What a way to end the month & the summer

Today, our new apprentice Kayleigh officially joined us. When we advertised the position, we received far more applications than I expected. It reinforced how important it is to find the right person for the team, rather than simply filling a position.

And our recruitment certainly isn’t finished

Hopefully, next week I’ll be announcing a new addition to our advice team, however, more on that later.

But before then, I’m delighted to say that we are now actively looking for a full-time, office-based Paraplanner to join us in Romsey.

As Voyage Financial Planning continues to grow, so does the importance of having the right structure and people behind our advisers.

With Megan gradually taking on more of a compliance role, bringing in a full-time Paraplanner is the next step in making sure we have the support and capacity in place to continue growing without compromising the service we provide to our clients.

There’s a lot happening and I’m genuinely excited about what the next 12 months will bring.

If you're an experienced Paraplanner looking for your next opportunity or you know someone who could be perfect for the role, drop me a message or apply via the link below.

With 5 children and such a big age range, it’s pretty much impossible to cater for all 5 at the same time, so sometimes you must divide and conquer to make sure they all get quality time between Amy & I.

Like I’ve recently said, work has been busy lately meaning finishing early hasn’t really been an option, so sometimes you just have too book something & then work around it.

A couple of weeks ago, I booked for Amy to take the older 3 down to Weymouth for a long weekend, giving her the chance to enjoy some time with them without having to worry about the twins, especially before our family holiday next week.

It also forced me to take a couple of days out of the office, which has been well needed, meaning, it left me and the twins together for the long weekend & I certainly made the most of it.

The twins & I have been all over the place, had plenty of adventures, and I think it’s safe to say my step count has benefited, especially when they decide to run in different directions.

I've been a bit quiet on here lately, and that's mainly down to how busy things have been juggling family life and the business.

This year has been a whirlwind, and we're far from finished.

We've now been in our new office for 6 months, and Voyage Financial Planning has continued to grow. We have had interviews & discussions with potential new recruits, but more on that another time.

With Stephanie now fully settled in, it genuinely feels like she's been part of the team for years. Her experience is already shining through, and she's making a huge impact on a daily basis.

With Michelle taking on more responsibility by managing the office and keeping everything running smoothly, it has has given me the time and headspace to focus on growing the business and looking ahead to what's next.

This month, I'm in and out of the office with summer holidays and client meetings. This is only possible because of the fantastic team around me, who make sure everything keeps running without missing a beat.

Although, they don't seem to hide the fact they prefer it when I'm not in the office as apparently my attempts to "help" aren't actually that helpful!

I'm incredibly grateful for the team we've built and excited for what the rest of the year has in store as those who know me, know, I'm always looking/ planning ahead.

As we enter the next phase of our growth plans, and with Stephanie due to start on Monday, we certainly aren't slowing down.

We're now looking for a Business Administration Apprentice to join the Voyage Financial Planning team in Romsey.

This is an opportunity for someone starting their career to gain hands on experience across both the mortgage and financial planning sides of the business. You'll play a key role in supporting our team by helping with administration, liaising with clients, lenders, providers, solicitors, our advisers and ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.

No experience in financial services? No problem. Full training will be provided. What we're really looking for is someone with a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and excellent organisation and communication skills.

I believe in investing in people. You'll be joining a supportive, friendly team where you'll gain valuable experience, develop new skills, and play an important part in helping us continue to grow.

If you, or someone you know, is looking to start a career in financial services, you can apply for the government link below

On Friday evening, we had our Q2 team night out.

For me, it's important we spend time together outside of the office. Strong teams aren't built from just being in the office, because when everyone works well together, everything runs smoothly for both the team and our clients.

It's also my way of showing my appreciation for all their hard work. They work tirelessly behind the scenes, keeping me organised and making sure Mandy and I can focus on what we enjoy most, meeting and helping our clients.

Without this team, Voyage Financial Planning wouldn't be where it is today. Their hard work, dedication & commitment often go unseen, so it's important to me that they receive the recognition they deserve, as it’s certainly not just the ‘Chris’ show.

Friday saw another exciting milestone, as our newest team member, Stephanie, joined us for the evening ahead of her official start on 13th July. Steph brings with her 18 years of Financial Services experience from a previous IFA practice, but just as importantly, she shares our passion for putting clients first and has a great sense of humour.

As we come towards the end of Q2, I've spent the past couple of weeks reflecting on just how much has changed at Voyage Financial Planning since the start of the year.

It's been a busy 6 months, with plenty of progress behind the scenes as we've continued to grow the business. Not just in terms of figures, but strengthen the team and improve what we do for our clients.

I am already looking ahead to Q3 & Q4, with plans well underway and a new member of staff joining us in early July & with plans to look for an apprentice to join us. I couldn't have asked for a better first half of the year.

To round off Q2 & just like 2 years when I had Ollie with me, we’ve got Maisie with us this week her work experience. She's already getting stuck in and designing a new brochure for us, but unsurprisingly, she has been making the most of one of the office's biggest perks, being a 1 minute walk from Reeves.

When we moved offices, I didn’t realise one of the biggest perks would be having an AC unit. In this weather, it’s worth every penny!

I thought I’d be the only one arriving early this morning to make the most of the AC, however, it seems Jessica and Samantha had the same idea as they beat me to it.

When I say I have come back to work for a rest, I genuinely mean it.

On Saturday, I was that typical dad, bobbing my head along to songs I had no clue about as I took Maisie to watch Capital’s Summertime Ball.

It was a long event that started at 3.20 & finished at nearly 11, but for me, watching Maisie sing her heart out & dance non-stop, was something I’ll never forget. The biggest moment was seeing & hearing her excitement as Niall Horan sang a One Direction song.

As parents (I certainly do), we often get caught up in the rush of everyday life, but every now and then a moment comes along that you know you'll remember forever. Saturday was one of those days. It’s days/ moments like these that give me the most happiness.

This week has flown by. None of us in the office has really had a moment to let up, and for me personally, that won't be changing this weekend as I take Maisie to Wembley for the Capital Summertime Ball.

We did get a nice opportunity to pause yesterday as we received our new website headshots and some in action photos from last week's shoot with Ross Chapman from Rubber Duckers

A huge thank you to Ross & Jay for capturing the team so well. It's not often we're all in the same place at the same time, mainly due to my diary, so it's great to have some fresh photos that showcase both the people and the personalities we have at Voyage Financial Planning .

Although, I should point out that when it came to the in action shots, Megan, Samantha & Michelle seemed to conveniently all disappear from view, even now, it’s a mystery where they escaped to.

All of our new headshots are now up on the website & it's nice to have been able to add Mandy Puntis profile
