MTD ALERT!!!

From 6 April 2026, sole traders with income over £50,000 will need to submit quarterly returns. From 6 April 2027, this will extend to sole traders with turnover over £30,000.

I know many tradies and subbies are finding the move to digital record-keeping and filing a bit daunting, but I’m here to make the whole process as simple and stress-free as possible. My experience so far using MTD with FreeAgent has been very positive and pain-free. Once the initial transition is done, I’m confident it’ll become a much easier way to prepare and file accounts — and a great way to stay on top of your finances too.

There’s plenty of software on the market, but FreeAgent is my first choice and the software I recommend to my clients. If you have the right bank account, it can even be free — although cheapest isn’t always best! I’ve used a wide range of accounting software over the years, and I genuinely rate FreeAgent highly. It’s straightforward, easy to use, logical, and backed by excellent support.
