Our new blog is live: Your September Business Reset, 5 Steps to Walk Into Autumn with Financial Clarity.

Summer's over, the office feels busier, and for a lot of business owners September feels like a second January. It's a natural point to pause, take stock, and get your finances in order before the year end rush.

Read the full guide here for five steps to help you reset and head into Autumn with confidence. https://lednoraccounting.co.uk/2026/09/01/financial-clarity-heading-into-autumn/

End of August, and if you've been following along, hopefully your books are looking a little less scary than they did a few weeks ago.

I've spent most of my back to basics energy this month on client accounts and slightly less on my own filing, if I'm honest. Fletcher the basset hound has offered zero help with either, but he has provided excellent moral support from under my desk. Heidi has just been a distraction!

September's just around the corner. New term, new routine, and a proper chance to head into Q4 knowing exactly where you stand.

Here's to a settled autumn and business admin that isn't hiding in a drawer somewhere.

Last one in this back to basics run: once you've caught up on what's behind you, look ahead.

With a clear view of your numbers, it's much easier to spot upcoming deadlines and plan for what's coming in Q4, rather than firefighting whatever lands on the desk.

I started Lednor because I didn't think you needed to be a multi-millionaire business to deserve an accountant who actually cares about you and explains things properly. That's still true, whatever size you are right now.

If you'd like a second pair of eyes on where your business stands, book a free Grooming for Growth call. No pressure, just a proper conversation.

One of the simplest habits that makes the biggest difference.

The problem with tax usually isn't the bill. It's not knowing what the bill is going to be.
So here's the tip: every time money comes in, transfer 20% straight into a separate savings account. Label it tax. Don't touch it.

Do that consistently and you'll never again have that horrible moment in January where the bill lands and the money isn't there.

Real talk. Is there something about your finances you've been too embarrassed to ask about? What profit actually means, why your accountant keeps mentioning something you've nodded along to without understanding, anything at all.

A good accountant is one of the most important relationships you'll have in your business, and you should always feel comfortable enough to ask the obvious question. Not everyone loves monkey puns as much as I do, and that's fine, but that comfort matters wherever you get it from.

Drop your question below, or send it to me privately if you'd rather. No judgement here, ever.

This month's Jungle Missive is out now.

Whether summer's had you running flat out or wondering where your customers have gone, it's usually the quiet tasks, invoicing, reconciling, chasing what's owed, that slip down the list. This month's newsletter is about getting back to basics now the diary's settling and things are returning to normal.

None of it needs to happen in one sitting. Little and often is what turns a mountain back into a molehill.

Read the full newsletter here https://www.linkedin.com/newsletters/the-jungle-missive-7435715950701674496 or sign up to get it straight to your inbox next month https://lednoraccounting.co.uk/

An oldie but a very much needed reminder, especially after a summer of school holidays and skipped invoicing.

Being too polite to chase your invoices is an expensive personality trait.

That money sitting in someone else's account? It's yours. You did the work.

So today's job: open your accounting software, find your oldest outstanding invoice, and send the chase email. Polite, professional, firm. Nothing to feel awkward about.

Quick one for you this week.

When did you last reconcile your accounts against your bank statements?

If it's been a while, here's your nudge. A quick check now will flag anything that's slipped through before it turns into a bigger problem, a missed payment, a duplicate charge, an invoice that never actually landed.

It doesn't need to take long. Ten minutes with a cup of tea and your bank app is usually enough to catch the surprises early.

Pop it in the diary this week. Future you will be relieved you did.

New blog is live: Back to School, Back to Basics.

Summer's a funny time to run a business. Maybe it's been your busiest stretch of the year, running around with your hair on fire. Or maybe things have gone quiet and you're wondering how you'll cover this month's wages. Either way, it's often the quiet tasks that slip. Invoicing. Receipts. The reconciling you meant to do weeks ago.
Nobody chases you for admin the way a client chases a deadline, so it's easy for the numbers to fall down the list without you even noticing.

September is the perfect moment to catch up before the backlog grows any further. Read the full blog here https://bit.ly/Back_to_School_Back_to_Basics for where to start.

And if you'd like a proper walk-through of the basics, my free Tame the Jungle email course is still open. https://bit.ly/Tame_the_Jungle

Right, I'll be honest, it's been quiet on here since June. Summer got the better of us, just like it probably got the better of your invoicing. No apologies needed, from either of us.
This clip is one of my favourite moments in this job. Someone sits down utterly terrified of their numbers, and by the end they get it, properly get it, and walk away feeling like they can make their own decisions from here. That's exactly what September's about for both of us. Less fear, more clarity.
A new blog on getting back to basics after the summer lull is coming Friday. What's the one thing that slipped during the summer holidays? Tell me in the comments, you're definitely not the only one.
