It was a pleasure to attend Women in Business Network Big Summer Event.

Last time I attended was 3 years ago so it was nice to catch with up with some networking buddies after such a long time.

As always it was an insightful and thought provoking event as we explored pressing issues such as equality, diversity and feminism.

A great way to spend a Wednesday, a room filled with inspiring women who have their own stories to share on how they entered into their respective professions and the business world.

Nice to catch up with Louise Yexley, Gemma Junyent and Alison Slack

Earlier this month, I had a further opportunity and privilege to support the talented Year 12 students at St Alban’s Girls’ School during their interview workshops.

It was inspiring to see the next generation preparing to step into the professional world with confidence and determination. These bright young minds underscore the vital importance of planning for the future, both personally and financially.

Smart decision-making is key to securing a bright future and investing in education is a powerful tool as witnessed at St Alban’s Girls’ School, opening doors to countless opportunities.

It was truly rewarding to contribute to the growth and development of these future leaders!

Understanding financial planning from a young age builds confidence and future financial security whether it is for education, a first home or retirement. Financial education is empowering and provides young people with the building blocks for a secure future. The article attached explains how we as parents can plan for the our children's future.

It was great celebrating St George’s Day at the St Albans District Chamber of Commerce annual luncheon last Friday.

This event is supported by so many local businesses in and around St Albans and always good to catch up with so many of them who I have connected and worked with over the years.

Let’s do this again next year

I am very proud to have achieved Chartered Fellow status within my profession some years ago. With my strategic, complex and evidenced-based thinking across a range of specialisms this enables me to provide the highest level of financial holistic advice to my clients.

Ever wondered what it takes to be a Chartered Fellow? Let me break it down for you:

What is a Chartered Fellow?
A Chartered Fellow is a prestigious professional designation awarded to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional expertise, experience and leadership in their respective field.

Why is it important?
Being a Chartered Fellow signifies a high level of achievement and recognition within the industry. It acknowledges significant contributions, advanced knowledge and a commitment to excellence.

What are the requirements?
To become a Chartered Fellow, individuals typically need to have extensive experience in their profession, accompanied by advanced qualifications or certifications. They must demonstrate a track record of leadership, innovation and impact within their field.
It is not just a title – it is a testament to my commitment to excellence and my impact on the industry.

And of course I love wearing my pins!

As a financial adviser, nothing brings me more joy than knowing that the guidance and advice I provide to my valued clients has made a positive impact on their financial wellbeing.
My clients satisfaction and peace of mind are always my top priorities. Whether it’s helping them to stay on track with their financial goals or being a dependable financial adviser in their long-term planning for both them and their loved ones, trust is very important to me.
The kind words and positive feedback have been reflected in the wonderful reviews I’ve received on VouchedFor and the testimonials not only validate the hard work I put into every client relationship but also serve as a testament to the value of personalised financial planning.
I am honoured to be noted in the VouchedFor 2024 Guide to Top Rated Advisers which was distributed nationally in The Times on Saturday, 9th March. Also due to be distributed in The Mail on Sunday in June and in the Telegraph in September.

Today is International Women’s Day and as always I like to mark it by doing something special. So my day started off by attending a breakfast Networking Event for Year 12s at St Albans Girls' School. It is always intrinsically satisfying helping the younger generation in our local community by providing them with guidance on future career prospects and to share with them my journey into financial services and being in business. I am always taken aback by the genuine interest and curiosity shown by the students when I have attended similar sessions which I hope will support them in making good career decisions.

From there I went to my weekly St Albans Business Networking Meeting. Here we regularly exchange ideas and business around the room for each other. Here is a picture of the wonderful and talented women I network with on a weekly basis, not only do we support each other in our respective business goals but we also empower each other to develop ourselves further both on a professional as well as personal basis.

As we now steadily move into 2024 and 2023 is already starting to become a distant memory, I have been reflecting on my role as a financial adviser in the community and the pleasure l take in empowering individuals with the knowledge to understand and make the most of their finances throughout every step of their financial journey, especially during these challenging economic times.

Throughout 2023, I have enjoyed continuing to share my knowledge and experience through seminars, in particular a ‘Making Decisions and Risk’ seminar for Year 10 students at Icknield High School and also running an ‘Empowering Women in Finance’ seminar for women who have migrated to the UK in the last 10 years which were both enlightening and so rewarding. Along with seminars, I have continued to take part in careers advice talks at St Albans Girls' School and it is always a pleasure to see such talented young people who despite facing constant challenges are so determined and driven to fulfil their dreams.

My last seminar for 2023 was for women starting up in business at a local community centre and it was such a pleasure to present to such an amazing group of talented and enthusiastic entrepreneurs both in person and online. Thank you Firefly Hub for the opportunity.

As Malcolm X said “education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.”

Wishing everyone a happy and prosperous 2024.
