Meet Verity.

Verity has wanted to be an accountant for as long as she can remember, and she’s been living the dream for over 20 years. From the moment you meet her, it’s clear she genuinely loves what she does – especially helping business owners feel organised, confident, and much less frazzled about running their businesses.

If you run a limited company and claim the £312 working from home allowance, there’s an important change from April 2026.

In previous years, this was often handled as an accounting adjustment. Going forward, you will need to physically pay this amount from your company to yourself to claim the tax relief.

That means making an actual bank transfer of up to £312 from your company account to your personal account.

If that payment isn’t made, the deduction can’t be claimed.

If you’re unsure how this affects you or whether you’re eligible, it’s worth speaking to your accountant.

We’re celebrating our clients today.

Over 15% of our clients have already sent in their 2025 to 2026 Tax Return information within the first three weeks of the new tax year, which puts them well ahead of the January deadline.

It means we can get everything prepared early, highlight any tax liabilities clearly, and avoid the usual last minute pressure.

For many, this will also be their final Self Assessment return before Making Tax Digital reporting comes into play.

Most people were never properly taught how money actually works.

You leave school knowing how to pass exams, but not how to manage tax, understand cash flow, or make confident financial decisions. So people end up figuring it out as they go, often the hard way.

That’s a big part of what we see every day. Good people running businesses, doing well, but missing bits of knowledge that were never explained in the first place.

We’ve come across a webinar from Rathbones that tackles this head on, especially for younger people starting to get to grips with money.

It’s well worth a look if you or someone you know is trying to make sense of it all.

Verity was at Silverton Point to Point, a proper day out with racing, fresh air and a well-earned pint, even if the winners didn’t quite land this time.

Leah made the most of the weather up on Exmoor, walking with family and four very happy dogs, the kind of day that ends with muddy boots and a clear head.

Vicky has been looking back at a weekend in Kuala Lumpur, taking in the city lights and a completely different pace of life and somewhere in the mix, Zack has been enjying a bit of Spanish sunshine too.

We’re looking for an Accounts Assistant to join our team in Tiverton, with flexible hours and hybrid working once you’re settled in.

This isn’t a narrow role, you’ll be working across bookkeeping, VAT, and client support, with the chance to get involved in payroll, tax and accounts depending on your experience.

It’s a great fit for someone with practice experience who wants to build confidence, take ownership of client work, and grow within a supportive team.

If you’re AAT Level 3 or working towards it, and comfortable speaking with clients, this could be a really strong next step.

Those little blue pigs aren’t there by accident, they’re turning up to our Making Tax Digital open day, and yes, you can take one home.

Why? Because MTD is all about keeping better track of your money, and most people are still winging it or hoping it sorts itself out.
