Happy National Biscuit Day🍪

Here at the office, we all enjoy a biscuit alongside a cup of tea or coffee! To celebrate, we asked the team what their favourites are:

Natalie: Fox’s Chocolate Rounds
Claire: Chocolate Digestive
Annabel: Fox’s Milk Chocolate Viennese
Grace: Chocolate Hobnob
Clare: Chocolate Hobnob
…..
Emma: JAFFA CAKE?!

But that brings us to the real debate… is a Jaffa Cake a biscuit or a cake? 🤔

Do you need an Independent Examination of your accounts? 🧾✔️

Many organisations, particularly charities and smaller not-for-profits, are required to have their accounts independently examined before they are approved.

An Independent Examination provides an external review of your financial records, ensuring they are accurate and appropriately prepared, with an Independent Examiner’s Report issued on completion.

If you require an Independent Examination, please get in touch to arrange a free initial meeting. 🤝

Today we’re wearing green in support of Mental Health Awareness Week 💚

Mental health can affect us all, in different ways, at different times. Taking a moment to check in with yourself, or reaching out to someone else, can make a real difference.

Whether it’s a conversation, a small act of kindness, or just being there to listen, it all counts.

Let’s keep the conversation going, today and every day.

Selling a property? 🏠 You could be required to complete a Capital Gains Tax return.

A CGT return may arise when you dispose of a property that has increased in value and has not been used solely as your main residence throughout ownership.

Most people selling a second property or a buy-to-let are aware of this requirement. However, it can sometimes be missed where a property was previously rented out, even if it is now your main and only home because even where reliefs are available, there can still be a reporting requirement.

If you’re unsure, it’s always best to seek advice before or after selling to avoid any unexpected issues. 📊

Are you a sole trader using your personal bank account for business? 🏦💼

It might seem easier, but mixing personal and business transactions can make bookkeeping more time-consuming and harder to manage.

Having a separate business account gives you a clearer view of your income and expenses, keeps your records organised, and makes things much simpler at year end.

It’s worth considering!
