When landlords ask us about holding property through a limited company, the conversation usually covers corporation tax, mortgage interest and capital gains. VAT rarely comes up, and that's often where problems start.

Long-term residential lets are generally VAT exempt, which sounds simple. But it also means VAT on repairs, refurbishments and professional fees usually can't be recovered. Add commercial property, holiday lets or mixed-use premises into the mix, and the position can get complex quickly.

VAT tends to get considered too late, after the structure is in place or significant costs have already been incurred. It's worth reviewing early.

Last night, ladies from of our Shrewsbury office took part in a charity netball tournament in support of two fantastic causes: Lingen Davies Cancer Support and Dementia UK

It was a brilliant evening of friendly competition, teamwork, and community spirit, all while raising vital funds for charities that make a real difference to so many people and families🤾

A huge thank you to D**e Yaxley Chartered Accountants and Aaron & Partners Solicitors for organising such an enjoyable event. It was great to see so many local businesses coming together to support these important charities.

These exclusive networking events provide a unique opportunity to connect with business leaders and equestrian professionals, all while enjoying world-class international showjumping.

🌱 On Thursday we sponsored the Midlands AGM of the The CLA hosted by Produce (UK) Ltd

It was fascinating to learn more about PDM’s remarkable growth story. From just 10 acres of iceberg lettuce, the business has expanded to 3,800 acres of salad crops, producing more than 25 varieties of salad and operating two prepared salad production sites. Their success is a testament to innovation, dedication, and the strength of the UK’s agricultural sector.

Our Estates Director, Tim Taylor, was invited to speak at the event, sharing his expertise and insights on matters affecting landowners, estates, and rural businesses.

Thank you to the organisers, hosts, and attendees for an engaging and informative day. It was a pleasure to be involved and to connect with so many people who are passionate about the future of the rural economy.

Yesterday, our Nantwich team swapped spreadsheets for sports as they took part in the Hospice of the Good Shepherd Sports Day.

The warm weather certainly made the day hard going, but it was worth it as it was all in aid of a fantastic cause🥵
