If you are not set up to pay by Direct Debit (which I reccomend you are) then today is the day to make that PAYE/NI liability payment to HMRC as Sunday is the deadline.

Failure to pay can result in fines and interest being incurred.

Now to sit back and enjoy the next 12 months without the dread of submitting my tax return hanging over my head.

There are many advantages to submitting your tax return early;
- Being fully aware of your tax liability that is due in January 2023 and being able to save each month for it so it doesn’t come as too much of a shock or financial hit when the liability is due.
- Having a better understanding of how your business is performing and being able to keep things on track this financial year instead of getting the results nearly a year later if you leave until January 2023 to pull together all your invoices and receipts.
- Just generally it not being a mad rush and a much less stressful process.

Currently, if you’re registered for VAT but your turnover is below the VAT threshold of £85k you haven’t been required to submit returns through Making Tax Digital compatible software.

This is all changing for VAT returns submitted after 31 March 2022.
