⏸️⏸️ Base Rate Pause⏸️⏸️

Some welcome news yesterday from The Bank Of England’s Monetary Policy Committee, who voted to keep the base rate at 5.25%.

This is the first time in almost 2 years the MPC have opted to keep borrowing costs unchanged.

This comes in the same week that the Office for National Statistics recorded August’s inflation figures at 6.7%, a fall from the 6.8% recorded in the 12 months to July.

We also saw announcements of mortgage rate cuts yesterday from some lenders including Nationwide, who announced new rate reductions across the majority of its fixed rate mortgage products, with lower rates available from today. With rate cuts of up to 31 basis points, they will be offering sub -5% rates on their residential mortgage range.

⭐️100% Track Record Mortgage ⭐️

You may have heard various media broadcasts today regarding a 100% mortgage deal from Skipton Building Society…… so we thought we’d give you a little run down of key features and eligibility criteria.

“We think this could be the start of the great shift - turning generation rent into generation homeowner” 🏡

This mortgage product is the first of its kind, where the lender looks at a renter’s history of making rental payments as an indicator of affordability.

Some key eligibility criteria:

🔴 Each applicant must be a First Time Buyer

🔴 Each applicant must be aged 21 or over

🔴 Must have proof of having paid rent for at least 12 months in a row within the last 18 months

🔴 Must also have 12 months experience paying all household bills within the last 18 months

🔴 Each applicant will have no missed payments on debts / credit commitments in the last 6 months

🔴 The monthly mortgage payment must be equal to or lower than the average of the last 6 months

⭐️⭐️ Threshold Client Story ⭐️⭐️

“After previously being a home owner some time ago and with a complicated financial situation I was unsure if I could firstly afford a mortgage or if I could get one, especially during the economic crisis.

I was recommended to Threshold Mortgages by a friend who had used them previously. Upon calling them I spoke with Teresa Sullivan and explained that I would like to meet in person to discuss all of my requirements but due to work my availability was quite difficult.

Teresa was so understanding and arranged for me to visit their offices after work and stayed late into the evening explaining all the details of what I could afford, possible lenders and repayments for the property I would like to purchase, and I left with an AIP which was fantastic.

I put my offer in on a property which was accepted so went back to Teresa who submitted my application almost immediately. She also helped me find a solicitor as I was not sure who I could use.

The case was then passed to her admin team where my case was managed by Heidi, who gave me regular updates on the application which meant I didn’t have to do anything apart from provide a couple of documents. They liaised with the estate agent and my solicitor throughout the process - it was so easy.

I am now in my own place which was something I did not think I would be able to do.
