In M&A, we have a saying “with make-up / without make-up” when we’re doing due diligence.

“With make-up” is how the seller (or more typically, the broker) wants you to see the Company… rising turnover & profitability / solid management team / long-term contracts / huge WIP figure / high-value fixed assets / adjusted EBITDA etc etc
