After some encouragement (and maybe just a little persuasion from Hayley and the team... 😉), Claire took on the Xerocon slide!

It's been an incredible couple of days packed with exciting announcements, inspiring sessions and plenty of ideas that we're looking forward to bringing back to the office.

Now it's time to digest everything we've learned and start putting those ideas into practice to help us continue delivering the very best for our clients.

🚀 Day 2 at Xerocon 2026!

Wow... there is so much to take away and digest!

The AI developments alone have been incredible, and there are some absolutely huge updates on the horizon that we're really excited to embrace. Once we've had chance to process everything, we'll be sharing our favourite announcements and what they mean for our clients.

Attending our 4th Xerocon this week has really reinforced how pleased we are that we made the decision to become a Xero-only practice when we started the business 11 years ago.

The investment and pace of innovation in the software is clear to see. It's exciting to watch Xero continue to develop tools that make finance processes faster, more accurate and more streamlined—freeing up more time for us to provide valuable insights and help our clients make informed business decisions.

Now for the biggest question in the office...

💆‍♀️ Wellbeing is just as important as productivity! 💆‍♂️

Today’s monthly team meeting was a little different as we were treated to a physio session and massage from Ellie Elena Blagoeva -Physiotherapist, and it went down a treat with the team! 🙌

Taking time to look after our wellbeing is so important, especially when work gets busy. A huge thank you to Ellie for helping us relax, ease those aches and pains, and for reminding us to prioritise our health and wellbeing. 😊

We’d highly recommend her services to anyone looking to invest in their wellbeing.

We're incredibly proud of Claire, who recently completed the Cancer Research UK Big Hike in the Peak District, raising money for a cause that touches so many lives.

Claire took on an impressive 13-mile route, clocking up around 35,000 steps and conquering two challenging hills along the way. Despite the demanding terrain, she completed the hike in an incredible 5 hours and 32 minutes, all while taking in the beautiful Peak District scenery.

Thanks to the generosity of sponsors and supporters, Claire and her team have raised approximately £1,000 for Cancer Research UK, helping to fund vital research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. A huge thank you to everyone who donated and showed their support.

For many years, HMRC's Authorised Mileage Rates for employees and self-employed individuals using their own car or van for business journeys have remained unchanged.

However, it has now been announced that the rates will increase, with retrospective effect from 6 April 2026:

✅ Up to 10,000 business miles per year – 55p per mile (increased from 45p)

✅ Over 10,000 business miles per year – 25p per mile (no change)

This increase could provide valuable additional tax relief for those using their own vehicles for business purposes.

From 6 April 2026, employees can no longer claim tax relief for working from home expenses. This means the previous flat...

From 6 April 2026, employees can no longer claim tax relief for working from home expenses. This means the previous flat-rate allowance of £6 per week (£312 per year) for additional household costs such as heating, electricity and business phone calls is no longer available.

The change is expected to affect around 300,000 taxpayers and marks the end of a relief that many remote and home-based workers have relied on for years.

If you were eligible but never claimed, there is still some good news. You can continue to make claims for the previous four tax years, so it may be worth checking whether you're due a refund before the opportunity is lost.

Although employees can no longer claim the relief directly from HMRC, employers may still be able to reimburse qualifying homeworking expenses tax-free in certain circumstances.
