Business mum life at its finest.

Yesterday I had a webinar on the go about Making Tax Digital, the good, the bad and the ugly of it, while the twins were being entertained by the Teletubbies. This is the glamorous reality of running your own thing, and honestly I wouldn’t swap it. Keeping on top of what I need to, while still being right here for these two.

This is my why.

And this week I’ve really been reminded of it.

Sports days. Award ceremonies. School plays. Knowing I’ll be there for my son’s very last school run before he starts high school in September. I still can’t quite believe that one 😭

Could I have done all this when I was employed? Probably. But it would have come with a huge side order of guilt. Asking for time off again, feeling like a pain in the backside, watching the clock the whole time I was there.

Working for myself means I get to just… go. To be present without permission.

That’s what this little business gives me, and it’s what I want for the people I work with too. So many of my clients are building businesses around their families, and honestly? It’s the best bit of the job, watching them get their time back.

Right, back to the spreadsheets. Someone’s got to fund the school shoes 😅

What’s your why?

There’s a particular kind of lonely nobody warns you about when you work for yourself. The money side.

You’re brilliant at the actual work. It’s the numbers and the the tax and that quiet “am I even doing this right?”, that wear you down.

Here’s what I want you to know. This stuff genuinely isn’t taught, so struggling with it doesn’t make you bad with money. And however long you’ve had your head in the sand, it’s never too late to sort it.

Taking that weight off people, and being the person they can just ask without feeling daft, is the bit I love most.

If you’re nodding at all of this, drop me a message. That’s exactly what I’m here for 💚

I don’t do a lot of hard selling, it’s not really me. But if I can help, it feels a bit silly not to say so. So here goes.

If you’re self-employed and the bookkeeping and tax side quietly hangs over you all year, I can take the whole thing off your plate.

It’s called Bookkeeping & Tax: Covered. You hand me the lot. The day to day books, keeping you on track through the year, and your tax return sorted when it’s due. And if you need to comply with Making Tax Digital, I can handle that too.

No piles building up, no January dread, no wondering if you’ve got it right.

What changes is the headspace. You stop carrying it, and get on with the work you’re brilliant at.

Handing it all over doesn’t mean you have no idea what’s going on. You’ll receive a monthly profit report and tax estimate, so you can see how you’re doing with a clear commentary explaining things, and you’ll also know how much you’ll need to put away for tax.

I take on a limited number of these so I can look after everyone properly, and I’ve got room for a couple more right now.

If that’s the year you’d like, send me a message with the word COVERED and we’ll have a chat about whether it’s right for you. No pressure, just a proper conversation.

So tell me, what would it be worth to never think about your bookkeeping again? 💚

“I’m terrible with anything tax-related.”

I hear it all the time before someone works with me. And nearly every time, it just isn’t true. They’re brilliant at what they do. They’ve just never been taught the tax bit, so of course it feels scary. For a lot of them, coming to me is the first time they’ve ever asked anyone for help at all.

Here’s the thing though. The feedback I get from my clients doesn’t talk about how much money I saved them, although that’s often the case. It talks about how they feel. The peace of mind. The weight off their shoulders. Because you can’t really put a price on that.

It’s someone finally explaining things in a way that makes sense, and never once making them feel daft for asking.

That’s the part I love most. The tax gets sorted, and often there are savings too. But the real change is going from dreading it to genuinely not having to think about it.

So if “I’m terrible with tax” is a story you’ve been telling yourself, I promise it doesn’t have to stay that way.

I’m a qualified and licensed accountant specialising in sole trader business finances, covering setup, bookkeeping checking support, and full bookkeeping.

Tell me, what’s the one bit of your business finances you’d love to stop worrying about? 💚

08/07/2026

There’s a version of you that doesn’t dread the money side of your business. Let me show you what it looks like.

It’s the end of the month and you’re not guessing. You open your books and you actually know what came in, what went out, whether it was a good month or a quiet one. No squinting at your bank balance and hoping for the best.

Tax stops being the thing that looms. No January panic, no scrambling around for receipts, no nasty surprises landing when you least expect them. It’s just handled, quietly, in the background, so you can get on with the work you’re actually brilliant at.

And when a question pops into your head, you can just ask. A quick message, a straight answer in plain English. Nothing complicated, no feeling daft for asking.

That is not a someday thing. It’s simply what happens when you stop carrying the money side on your own and hand it to someone who genuinely loves this stuff.

That’s exactly what I help sole traders do.

So tell me, what would you do with the headspace if the money side just felt sorted?

Let me tell you what “I’ll sort it later” actually costs.

Every month the books don’t get done, you’re guessing. Guessing what you earned. Guessing what you owe. Guessing whether that big month was actually a good month once the tax is out. Guessing how much to put aside.

And guessing costs you. You could be overpaying tax without even knowing it. You’re making big decisions without the full picture. And that little worry in the background never quite goes away, until suddenly it’s all due at once.

It doesn’t have to be like that.

I’m the person who takes the money side off your plate, so you always know where you stand. Some people want their own bookkeeping checked over. Some want to hand me the lot. Either way, no more guessing.

So tell me, if you had to guess your profit for last month right now, could you? 💚

Hi, I’m Suzanne 👋

I’m the accountant for people who never thought they’d have an accountant.

You know the ones. Sole traders doing brilliant work, but quietly winging it with the money side. Receipts in a drawer, a spreadsheet they don’t fully trust, and a little knot in their stomach every time someone mentions tax.

That’s exactly who I help.

No stuffy meetings, no confusing letters full of words you have to Google. My clients message me on WhatsApp when something pops into their head, and I answer in plain English. People tell me the best bit is how un-scary and simple it all feels.

Whether you want your own bookkeeping checked over for peace of mind, or you’d rather hand the whole lot to me and never think about it again, I’ve got you covered. And with the new quarterly tax updates now in play for many sole traders, there’s never been a better time to get sorted.

I’m a qualified and licensed accountant specialising in sole trader business finances, covering setup, bookkeeping, self-assessment, MTD, VAT returns, financial reporting, and software training.

Do you run your own business? What do you do and who do you help? 👇

MTD for Income Tax is live, and if you’re a sole trader or landlord who was over £50,000 last year, your first deadline lands on 7 August.

If you’ve been putting it off because you genuinely don’t know where to start, save this. It’s the whole thing in four steps.

The part that trips most people up? Signing up isn’t automatic. Plenty of people assume once they receive the letter to say they need to comply, that’s it. You still need to sign up.

If you’d rather just hand this over, that’s exactly what I do. Comment MTD and I’ll drop you a message to get you started.
