We did it! The ChadStone team completed the 40ft Dragon Boat Race for Severn Hospice (and we actually came 5th overall!!🚣‍♂️🥳)

Most importantly, it was all in aid of Severn Hospice, an incredible local charity providing specialist care and emotional support for people living with an incurable illness across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and Mid Wales.

We are so proud to have taken part and even prouder of the amazing support behind us.

A huge thank you to every single one of you in this wonderful community who donated, interacted with our posts, cheered us on, or kindly pretended we looked like we knew what we were doing 🤣

Thanks to this wonderful community, we have raised an incredible total of £2682 (214% of our original target!) for Severn Hospice.

Today we’re shouting about Hannah and for very good reason 🥳

Hannah is one of our Client Managers at ChadStone, which means she looks after clients directly, answers questions, keeps things moving and carries a lot of responsibility for making sure people feel properly looked after.

And she is very good at it.

She understands the work, cares about the standard, and manages client relationships in a way that reflects what we want ChadStone to be known for.

That makes a huge difference to the team, to our clients, and to how the business continues to grow.

We have thanked Hannah in private, but someone this good deserves to be recognised publicly too 👏

What Companies House make out will happen if you don’t verify your identity as a director 🤦 (read below for what the rules are and what to do)

On a serious note, we know a lot of business owners have been receiving emails from Companies House about director identity verification.

And we also know some of those emails mention things like prosecution, fines and legal action, which is not exactly the calmest thing to land in your inbox when you’re just trying to run a business.

So, here is what it actually means👇

This is now a legal requirement for company directors, but it does not need to be scary.

It simply means you need to verify your identity with Companies House and receive your personal code.

That code is then used to confirm your identity when certain filings are made, including your company’s confirmation statement.

In simple terms👇

✅ You need to verify your identity
✅ You need to keep your Companies House personal code safe
✅ Your code will be needed for your company’s next confirmation statement
✅ If all directors are not verified, the confirmation statement cannot be filed properly

This is not something to ignore, but it also does not need to be a panic job.

You can either complete the process yourself through Companies House, or Sarah and Charl can sort it for you for £50 + VAT so you don’t have to think about it.

If you would like us to handle it, we’ll need the right ID and information from you so we can get everything done properly and we will let you know what that is.

So, if you’ve been staring at the Companies House emails thinking “what on earth do they want from me now?” this is your friendly nudge.

P.S. It doesn’t matter how many companies you are a director of, once you have your code, it will work for all of them.

We’ve nearly doubled our fundraising target for Severn Hospice thanks to you 🥳

Thanks to your amazing support, we have gone from 18% of our target fundraised to 184% - bringing our total money raised for Severn Hospice to £2305 so far 🙌

This has surpassed our original target of £1250 and we cannot thank you enough!

Owen has officially been part of ChadStone for 9 years 🎉

Which is lovely, impressive and also slightly alarming, because we’re not entirely sure how that much time has passed!

In those 9 years, Owen has grown massively within the team and we’re so proud of him 👏

He is now one of our Client Managers, looking after a number of clients without Dave or Al being involved at all.

He’s calm, reliable, brilliant with clients and a massive part of the ChadStone team. Our clients love him and our team is so grateful for him 🙌

📉 What went out, including those sneaky “small” costs
👛 What needs setting aside for tax, wages or bills
📊 Whether the month was profitable, not just busy

Because “we had a good month” and “we made good money” are not always the same thing.

One director is doing a triathlon and another walked 50km around Bath in preparation for this 😅

Dave and Al have both been taking on their own challenges recently, all while we get ready for the Severn Hospice Dragon Boat Festival.

So even though their challenges aren’t specific training for a 40ft dragon boat, we figured it all helps 😃

We’re raising money for Severn Hospice, a brilliant local charity that provides free care and support to people living with incurable illness across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Mid Wales.

And they have to raise £2 for every £3 they spend, which is why events like this matter so much.

So, we will all be getting in the boat in July and our directors are going to keep doing crazy things, all in the hope of raising as much money as possible for this amazing charity 💪

This month marks 10 years since Dave joined the business, and what a 10 years it has been 🙌

Over the years, he’s played a huge part in helping ChadStone grow into the business it is today. Including becoming a director and co-owner 3 years ago alongside Al 🤝

He’s steady, thoughtful, funny, committed, and always up for finding a way to make things better for our clients, our team, and the wider community.

He’s also usually behind things like charity boat races, team challenges, 50km walks, and the occasional questionable Christmas character…

So if there’s madness, Dave has probably had a hand in it 😂
