The key amount is £150 per head, per tax year and that needs to cover the full cost of the event.
One thing that catches people out though… it’s an exemption, not an allowance. So if the cost works out at £151 per person, the whole amount can become taxable — not just the £1 over.
Before you book anything, add up the total cost and divide it by the number of people attending so you know exactly where you stand.
