We are so incredibly proud of our Managing Director, Danielle Friend, who has been announced as the new Chair of Pickering Cancer! 🎉

The charity provides a safe and friendly space for anyone impacted by cancer, as well as their friends and family. It has been a vital resource of support for many for more than 20 years.

We'd like to extend a huge thank you to David Bartholomew for his outstanding dedication to the charity over the last decade.

We have absolutely no doubt Danielle will bring the same passion and commitment to this role as she does to everything else.

A New Chair for The Pickering Cancer Drop-In Centre

After six years as Chair of the Board of Trustees, and ten years as a Trustee, David Bartholomew has passed on the baton to Danielle Friend, who becomes the new Chair of The Pickering Cancer Drop-In Centre.

We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to David for his dedication, support, and volunteering over the past decade. His contribution to Pickering has helped shape and support the Centre through many important years.

We would also like to thank Danielle for taking on the role of Chair as Pickering enters an exciting new chapter.

Danielle said:

“I have some very big boots to fill as Chair of Pickering.

I am enormously proud to take on the responsibility of being Chair of the Pickering Board. The charity is close to my heart, as I lost a dear friend to cancer in 2022, who cared a lot about the charity, even before she became ill. To be given the opportunity to shape the future of the charity as Chair is nothing short of a privilege.”

We look forward to supporting Danielle in her new role.

It's day 3 of our mental wellbeing series, and we saved the most interesting one for last… office Qigong! 🧘‍♀️
Qigong combines slow, mindful movements with deep breathing to help reduce stress and improve focus. While we weren't quite sure what to expect, we were all surprised by how calm and refreshed we felt afterwards!
It's been a brilliant week of trying new things and it's been a great reminder that looking after your mental health at work doesn't have to be complicated.

It's day 2 of our mental wellbeing series! 🌿

Today we took our lunch break outside and left our phones at our desks. No notifications, no emails, no Teams calls.

The sun was hiding (very on-brand for England 🌧️), but we braved it anyway and made the most of the beautiful garden we're lucky to have here at the office.

We were also joined by Octavia, our newest team member, who shared some of her favourite ways to switch off after a busy work week.

It's Mental Health Awareness Week! 😊

At Create Balance, we wanted to explore some ways we could prioritise our mental health during the workday.

Over the next few days, we are going to try out some recommended activities that can help improve mental wellness, while also discussing some ways we are already incorporating a work-life balance into our lives.

Today, we left our desks and went out on a brief stroll around the Eridge Park Estate! 🌳
