Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax mandates quarterly updates for qualifying sole traders and landlords, starting April 2026 for those with income over £50,000.
Key MTD for Income Tax Deadlines (from April 2026):
Quarterly Updates:
Q1 (6 April - 5 July): 7 August
Q2 (6 July - 5 October): 7 November
Q3 (6 October - 5 January): 7 February
Q4 (6 January - 5 April): 7 May
Final Declaration (End of Period Statement): 31 January following the tax year end (e.g., 31 January 2027 for the 2026/27 tax year).
Payment Deadline: 31 January for balancing payments and first payment on account; 31 July for second payment on account
