King Charles III has become the first British monarch to publicly disclose his personal tax bill ๐Ÿ‘‘

Although the Monarch is not legally required to pay income or capital gains tax, a 1993 agreement with HM Treasury under which the Monarch voluntarily pays tax on private income remains in place ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง

The latest figures show King Charles paid ยฃ12.9 million in income and capital gains tax for 2024/25. Since becoming King in 2022, he has voluntarily paid more than ยฃ30 million in personal taxes, highlighting a continued commitment to financial transparency.

If you could choose, whose taxes would you like to be disclosed next? ๐Ÿ˜„

Parents could see some extra savings this summer after the government announced a temporary VAT cut from 20% down to 5% on selected family activities and childrenโ€™s meals.

Between 25 June and 1 September, places such as zoos, cinemas, museums, theme parks and soft play centres could become cheaper, along with some kidsโ€™ meals in restaurants.

The idea behind the scheme is to help families cope with rising costs during the school holidays, although businesses wonโ€™t be required to pass the full reduction on to customers.

However, what does this mean for small business owners?

โ€ข Businesses arenโ€™t legally required to pass the full savings on to customers

โ€ข Smaller businesses say updating VAT systems for a temporary scheme could be difficult, with an additional admin burden

If your business will be impacted by this change and you need any help or support, as always please reach out ๐Ÿ’œ
