Its been a hectic few months (for good reasons) so its been a while since I did a post like this but there have been significant changes in product offerings in recent months in the Commercial Finance space so in September it would be great to be introduced to a client in the following position as I feel that I could help them:

1) Established 3+ years and reasonably profitable but certainly could do more with improved cashflow or capital investment
2) Maybe have taken out a couple of short-term loans since inception with expensive lenders who were happy to help a fledgling business
3) These loans are now a bit of a burden with large monthly interest payments and the client feels slightly trapped by them, especially at a time when extra cash would be really useful to the business.

I have dealt with several clients in this sort of position in recent months and have been able to consolidate finance over a period to suit the client, usually reducing monthly expences while ensuring capital is paid back in a timely manner.

Another nice review in

This client had taken out a bridging loan to buy a great business with another broker a couple of years ago but when it came to repaying the bridge, the other broker was nowhere to be found (I guess he was happy with his payday from the initial bridge)

We were able to place this with a lender who understood that while the new business couldn't demonstrate affordability as yet, this was a professional-client with great potential and was prepared to put everything on the line to succeed.

As many of you may (or may not know), I am a member of BNI Apollo Leicester which meets weekly every Friday at 10am at the Hilton Hotel in Leicester.

We are a great group of business people who generally exchange about £100k of business every month and looking to grow this considerably in the next few months.

The latest testimonial is in for JB Commercial Finance for a commercial remortgage of a unit.

This was a challenging case for reasons outside the client's control but we got there with a 70% LTV deal at a decent rate over a term which took away cashflow pressure.

A good result all round for a business with a bright future post-COVID.

According to a survey in the Sunday Express undertaken by Shawbrook Bank, half of small business owners were forced to use personal savings to keep their business going.

The survey found that almost half of small businesses that applied for finance from lenders in the past year said it did not meet their needs, leading them to use their own savings, credit cards, and other finance products.

Among bigger companies with turnovers of up to £50m, the figure rose to 63%.

A few things to pick here:

1) Directors putting personal funds into their business isn't a bad thing. It is cheaper than borrowing and shows commitment to a business
2) Raising these personal funds via personal finance products is not good and likely a breach of any finance agreement
3) How many of these businesses are actually viable as this figure seems extremely high?

The main question for me is whether these business owners have properly chatted with an independent Commercial Finance broker such as myself to access all available options.

While accessing finance can be daunting and challenging at times, it's reasonably rare than a viable business doesn't have any options.
