We've had not one, but two fantastic reasons to celebrate this week, and we couldn't be prouder of our team. 👏

Firstly, a huge congratulations to Jonny Pearson, who has successfully completed his Level 4 Accounting Technician Apprenticeship, achieving his Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting. What an incredible achievement!

And that's not all... 🥳

A massive congratulations also goes to Magda Witkowska, our Tax Compliance Senior, who has passed her final exam to become a Chartered Tax Adviser! This is a huge milestone and a testament to the dedication and commitment she's shown throughout her studies. Studying for professional qualifications while working full-time takes countless hours, determination and perseverance.

Earlier this month, our Accounts Manager, Lisa Bowe, and Accounts Senior, Karen Watson, enjoyed attending the NFU Carlisle at Ellerton Grange.

It was a great opportunity to hear about the Workman family's impressive new dairy unit and see first-hand how innovative technology is helping to improve both cattle welfare and farm productivity.

It was also lovely to see one of our valued clients, Liz's Country Kitchen, providing a fantastic supper to round off the evening – a well-deserved treat after an informative farm walk!

A big thank you to the NFU for organising another excellent event. It was great to catch up with familiar faces and meet members of the local farming community.

SFI 2026 Update – Window 1 is now open

The first application window for the new Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) opened on 30th June and is available on a first come, first served basis for:

🌱 Small farms (up to 50 hectares)
🌱 Farms without an existing Environmental Land Management agreement

For many of our farming clients, Window 2 (expected to open in September 2026) is likely to be more relevant, particularly for those with existing stewardship agreements due to expire by the end of February 2027.

With funding expected to be more limited than previous schemes, it's worth planning ahead.

📚 It's that time of year again!

We always love visiting The Nelson Thomlinson School for their Year 10 event. This year, our Accounts Training Manager, Robert, joined the mock interviews, while our Client Support Senior, Callie, and Accounts Assistant, Luke, manned the stand, chatting to students about all things accountancy, apprenticeships, and careers.

It's always a pleasure to support such a fantastic event and hopefully inspire the next generation. Thanks for having us, NTS! 😊

This week we are celebrating a very special milestone as our Tax Compliance Manager, Jenna Mash*ter, celebrates 10 years with Benson Accountants.

For the past decade, Jenna has been a huge part of our team. Her friendly attitude, expert tax knowledge and willingness to go the extra mile have earned the trust of our clients, while her support, guidance and encouragement make her an amazing colleague too. Whether she's helping clients or sharing her knowledge with the team, Jenna is always happy to lend a hand, and we're incredibly grateful for everything she does.

What a fantastic day our team had at the Royal Highland Show!

While the weather certainly tested everyone's waterproofs (and spirits!), Ralph, Paul, Sandra and Elaine were well prepared with their bright yellow Benson umbrellas and enjoyed a brilliant day catching up with clients, meeting new contacts and taking in everything the show had to offer.

Since expanding into the area, we've received such a warm welcome from both our clients and the wider business community. It was great to be part of such a fantastic event, putting faces to names, strengthening existing relationships and building new connections within the agricultural community.

A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to stop and chat with us – we look forward to seeing you again soon!

What a day Saturday turned out to be at the Cumberland Show!

Despite the all day threat, the rain thankfully held off and the showground stayed busy throughout the day.

Thank you to all of our friends, clients and colleagues for stopping by our stand; it was great to see so many familiar faces and make some new connections too. If you stopped hoping to catch Paul, chances are you missed him! As President of the Show, he was busy carrying out his duties across the showground from start to finish.

A huge thank you to our team, who worked incredibly hard all day and helped make it such a success. And an even bigger well done to the entire team - it was a fantastic set up and a truly great day.
