We recently had the pleasure, as we do each year, of attending Collyer's Festival of Science.

This annual event is an opportunity for students to hear from a multitude of different people who work within industries that involve a scientific element - and that absolutely includes financial planning!

Darren gave a presentation to students around what it is we do and also spoke about recent times. The students were engaged and had questions for Darren - which was fantastic!

Here’s hoping we’ve inspired some of the students to consider financial services for their future careers ☺️

With investment markets continuing to face extremely challenging conditions, particularly since the turn of the year, we felt it appropriate to give our clients a bit more insight in what we, at The Fortitude Wealth Partnership Ltd, are doing behind the scenes and so this morning, we communicated to all of them. 

Communication is something we pride ourselves on - especially in these challenging times. We are transparent in our communications too, which is why we have been clear in that although our communication doesn’t offer a ‘fix’ to the current market positions that we face, our aim and hope is that it gives a little more information and some reassurance, that everyone involved in the investment process with our clients' money is working hard on their behalf.

How many working years do you have under your belt? And under how many different companies?

It's common that people jump ship throughout their working lives and it's therefore often that people end up with multiple pension pots.

One of Steve's new client cases this week, involves four pensions outside of a client's current pension scheme, across three different providers.

We are in the process of collating data on each of the pensions (using LOAs - see previous post from Tuesday) and then we we'll explain to the client exactly what their existing pension positions are and their options. Of course this involves getting to know the client under the Know Your Client (KYC) regulations as well as understanding their aspirations and objectives.

Pensions can be complex and without the right knowledge and expertise, leaving a pension in situ or indeed moving it, could seriously impact retirement planning and any future benefits.

What is a Letter of Authority or 'LOA'

A LOA, as we like to call it in the office, is an instruction that can be signed by a plan holder, giving us as a firm (or third party) permission to obtain information about a plan.

It is for information purposes only - nothing more.

However, LOAs are really important so that we can start the process of helping clients with their existing arrangements. We can collate the information and then report back to the client to help them better understand what it is they have in place.

Natalie, our in house administrator and paraplanner deals with our client LOAs by making contact with various providers each week and ensures a speedy, smooth process.
