🚨 Making Tax Digital for Self Assessment – Starting April 2026 🚨
From April 2026, major changes are coming for self-employed individuals and landlords under Making Tax Digital (MTD).
Here’s what you need to know 👇
📌 Who is affected?
If you’re self-employed or a landlord with total gross income over £50,000, you’ll need to comply from April 2026.
(Those earning £30,000+ will follow from April 2027.)
📌 Quarterly Updates Required
Instead of one annual tax return, you’ll submit quarterly income and expense updates to HMRC using MTD compatible software.
📌 Digital Record Keeping
You must keep digital records of your business/ rental income and expenses.
📌 End of Period Statement (EOPS)
At the end of the tax year, you’ll confirm and finalise your figures.
