On day, we wish to emphasize the vital role rural communities play, among many things in food security, agricultural development, and environmental stewardship.
At Impact Hub Athens, we work in rural Greece to help local communities address infrastructure challenges, tourism-related vulnerabilities and economic exclusion in remote areas. Lately, we've been doing so by helping restore three rural buildings in the regions of Epirus, Korca (Albania) and Kozani.
Through Interreg-RISTOR, together with our local partners, we are revitalising two disused municipal buildings in and to repurpose them into accessible centres for sustainable and inclusive tourism. Upon launch, the centers will act as collaborative, cross-border spaces where local communities, tourism professionals and visitors can meet, build skills, share knowledge and shape the future of sustainable tourism in their regions
Further North, together with our partners in EcoZani project, with a vision rooted in the principles of – – , we seek to foster economic diversification by turning the former OSE (Hellenic Railways) site in Kozani into a municipal inclusive space dedicated to sustainable development, culture, intangible cultural heritage, and collaborative practices.
