A new video from the US Department of Defense shows Secretary Pete Hegseth remotely piloting a UH-60 Black Hawk using only a touchscreen.

Released on November 14, 2025, the footage offers a rare look at next-generation military aviation, showing Hegseth steering the helicopter through a live camera feed.

The test happened at DARPA headquarters, where the Black Hawk was fitted with DARPA’s ALIAS automation system.

The test stood out because the helicopter was fully controlled from a remote console. Hegseth used a touchscreen with live video and sensor data to fly it, showing that remote helicopter operation is now possible.

Two Army pilots remained on board as a safety backup but did not touch the flight controls. DARPA now aims to advance this technology for military use with field tests, new tactics, and stronger cybersecurity.

A video has surfaced online showing Alex Conley, the second person to receive Neuralink’s brain implant, flying a drone by controlling it entirely with his thoughts.

Alex used the implant to generate Arduino code with his brain, and that code allowed him to operate the drone despite being paralyzed from a spinal cord injury. He thanked Elon Musk and the Neuralink team for the opportunity.

Neuralink implanted the device in Alex in August 2024, and the implant translated his neural activity into real-time commands that activated both the coding interface and the drone controller.

Neuralink was founded in 2016 to develop brain-computer interfaces for neurological disorders and to facilitate long-term human-AI integration. And has implanted devices in 12 individuals so far.

Eight Sleep apologized after an AWS outage made its $3,000 pods malfunction—blaring alarms, freezing users, and forcing some to the floor.

Many in the US awoke on Monday to see that their online tools weren't working after an Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage. A few were tipped off because their smart mattress malfunctioned.

Those with Eight Sleep smart bed tech found their heated protectors weren't able to change temperature due to the outage. Some found their beds were stuck in an upright position.

An X user found that his mattress was over nine degrees warmer than desired, and they were unable to reduce the temperature. Another user reported being awoken at 2 a.m. with the bed at 80 degrees Fahrenheit, while another said his bed was "unusable right now because it’s 100% subscription based with no backup plan to let people manually set it when AWS is down."

According to Eight Sleep CEO Matteo Franceschetti, the brand is now working on “outage-proofing” for future issues.

The AWS outage earlier this week also took down dozens of other services, including Canva, Disney+, HBO Max, Hulu, Lyft, Reddit, Roku, Signal, and Snapchat. Amazon blamed a Domain Name System resolution issue and said it would soon provide a detailed report of what happened.
