Concepts build your understanding. Practice helps you apply them to questions you may not have seen before.

In my CA Foundation and CA Inter LAW regular batches, students receive extra practice worksheets after each unit.

These include fresh questions that have not appeared in past exams, RTPs or MTPs—so students get practice handling unfamiliar questions too.

This worksheet practice is in addition to the chapterwise test. Students first solve the practice worksheet and then attempt the test for that unit.

A student asked me, “Ma’am, is it okay to make a short outline of the question while reading it?”

Yes!!

In fact, this can be a very useful exam technique.

You can convert the facts into a brief flowchart or a few key points, like the student has done here.

This helps you see how the facts connect, analyse the question and organise your answer.

When the answer does not click immediately, students may read the question again, lose time and start feeling tense. That tension can make it harder to think clearly.

A short outline can help you process the question in the first reading itself and move towards your answer with more confidence.

Keep it brief—just enough to understand the facts and structure your response.

Let me know if you have any other law answer writing query and I’ll be happy to help

What does “thereof” mean in legal language?

“Thereof” means “of that” or “of the thing just mentioned.” It points back to something already referred to in the sentence.

Example: “The agreement and any breach thereof” means “the agreement and any breach of that agreement.”

So, when you see “thereof,” ask: “Of what?” The answer is usually found earlier in the sentence.

What does “unless otherwise agreed” mean?

👉🏻 It means that if the parties agree on an arrangement, that arrangement will apply. But if the parties have not agreed upon anything, then the rules mentioned in the Act shall apply

Example: Under Section 32 of the Sale of Goods Act, delivery of goods and payment of the price are normally concurrent.
But if the seller and buyer agree that payment will be made in advance and delivery will take place three days later, their agreed arrangement applies.

Thinking of leaving the Indian Contract Act and the Negotiable Instruments Act for options? Look at the marks at risk.

In the September 2026 paper, these two Acts accounted for 46 marks across all the questions: 32 from Contract Act and 14 from Negotiable Instruments Act.

Seven Contract Act marks were in compulsory Q1. The other 39 marks appeared in the optional questions—but the choice is between questions, not chapters.

So re-work your plan if required!

Also…….

Knowing these chapters is only part of the preparation. You also need to manage your time: read the question carefully, plan your answer, cover every part and finish within the three hours.

That’s what regular timed tests help you practise. A test series gives you a chance to work on your speed, answer writing and paper completion before exam day.
