This independence day, let us target financial independence for us and our families. Today, let us think about how we can plan to be truly financially independent. This does not mean retirement. It means that we don’t need to necessarily work to make ends meet. We work, because we just like what we do. A financially independent person can spend time on things they like, travel around the world, run, workout, work in charities, teach, read, spend time with their loved ones and so on without having to worry about snarling traffic of the next morning or that escalation before going to bed.

Today, let us usher in Financial Independence by starting investment planning. Happy Independence Day. Jai hind.

Medium Term goals (down payment for new house 5y down the line etc);

Long Term goals early retirement, kid’s education etc);

Why invest in when you can directly invest in

As the Oracle of Omaha - Mr says it, Buying a stock is like buying a small business. Unless you are a person who evaluates businesses (evaluate financials, management, ownership structure, market, economy, demand, supply etc etc) it is very unlikely that you will perform better than an experienced fund manager who with their team only do this one job and are usually pretty good at that. What I am inching towards is that you should trust your hard earned money with a professional fund manager through a mutual fund house. Their are multiple schemes with different investment objectives, if you spend sometime with your financial advisor you should be able to zero in on the funds that make the most sense for you

If however your intention is to become a trader - once you have the basic understanding of markets - you should start investing a small amount in the market. You will make some money, you will lose some money - but the lesson learnt in real life will slowly increase your understanding about markets and about how to buy good stock.
