West Bengal has witnessed a major boost to its jute industry, with 14 previously closed jute mills resuming operations within a month. The reopening has brought relief to thousands of workers who have returned to their jobs, restoring livelihoods and offering renewed hope to families that had been affected by prolonged closures.

According to the Labour Department, production has already resumed in several mills, while repair and restoration work is in its final stages at others. Officials said Jagdal, Empire Emco, Bharat and Lumtex jute mills are also expected to restart operations soon, further strengthening the sector and creating additional employment opportunities.

The state government said efforts are continuing to revive the jute industry and generate sustainable employment for more workers. The reopening of these mills is being seen as a significant step towards revitalising one of West Bengal's key traditional industries and supporting the state's industrial growth.

Hyderabad is set to emerge as a major high-speed rail hub with three proposed bullet train corridors connecting it to Pune, Chennai and Bengaluru, Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Saturday, adding that the projects would integrate regional economies and transform the city's growth trajectory.

Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the government aims to complete redevelopment of 400 stations by the end of this year and 700 by the end of next year.
