Let’s compare buying an ETF with buying an individual stock in the Indian stock market.

Scenario: You want exposure to the banking sector in India.

Option 1: Buying an Individual Stock (HDFC Bank)

• Stock: HDFC Bank Ltd. (HDFCBANK)
• Investment: You buy 10 shares of HDFC Bank at ₹1,600 per share, for a total investment of ₹16,000.
Here you are concentrated and only exposed to the performance of one bank, which increases your risk as well as returns..

Option 2: Buying a Banking ETF (Nippon India ETF Bank BeES)

• ETF: Nippon India ETF Bank BeES, which tracks the Nifty Bank Index, including major Indian banks like HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, SBI, and Kotak Mahindra Bank, IndusInd bank, bank of Baroda, etc…
• Investment: You buy 10 units of Bank BeES at ₹450 per unit, for a total investment of ₹4,500.
