Why Is It Difficult to Talk About Money?

Perhaps because we find it difficult to accept our financial reality.

We compare our homes, holidays, cars, and lifestyles with those around us, without knowing their financial reality.

Slowly, we begin living by society’s expectations rather than our own financial capacity.

The problem is not always how much money we have, but how we choose to live with what we have.

Talking about money requires honesty about what we earn, what we spend, and what truly matters to us.

Perhaps financial peace begins when we stop living to impress others and start living in alignment with ourselves.

Reflect. Rethink. Realign.

Life and Money Alignment: Growing with the Natural Rhythm of Life

Are we aligning our money with our life, or are we shaping our life around money?

As we move through life, we gradually discover what truly matters to us. Our priorities change, our understanding deepens, and our definition of happiness, success, security, and freedom evolves.

But how often do we pause to ask ourselves: Is the life/money we are creating still aligned with the person we are becoming?

Life is not static. Our desires change, circumstances shift, relationships evolve, and our understanding of ourselves grows. Yet, we sometimes continue following old goals and expectations without questioning whether they still serve us.

Life is like a garden. We nurture what we value, remove what holds us back, and make space for growth.

As we grow, our priorities change, and our relationship with money must evolve, too. Money is not just about accumulating wealth; it is about supporting the life we value.

So, ask yourself: Is your money aligned with the life you want to create?

True alignment is knowing when to nurture, when to let go, and when to change.

Life will keep changing. The question is, will our choices change with it or will we keep living by yesterday’s priorities while dreaming of tomorrow’s happiness?

Money maturity is not about knowing taxation, investments, markets or the economy.

Sometimes, it is much simpler.

Do you return borrowed money on time?

Do you pay what you owe without being reminded?

If you receive extra change, do you return it?

When you sell something, are you honest about its condition?

When you buy, do you try to take unfair advantage?

And when nobody is watching
do you still choose to be fair?

These small choices may never appear in your portfolio.

But they reveal your relationship with money.

So ask yourself:

“What does my behaviour with money say about me?”

Maybe money maturity begins not with the market…

but with ourselves.

Two People, Two Money Stories, one shared Life

Husband and wife are two people who come together with two different money stories.

One may have grown up with the belief, “Money has to be saved. We don’t know what tomorrow will bring.”

The other may have grown up believing, “Enjoy today. Tomorrow will take care of itself.”

We have seen this in our practice for many years.

Both may be earning well, but their relationship with money can be very different.

And after marriage, they have to take decisions together : about spending, investing, children, property, lifestyle, parents and inheritance.

Many times, the argument is not really about the money.

It is about what money means to each person.

For one, money may mean security and safety.

For another, money may mean freedom and enjoyment.

For one, saving brings peace of mind.

For another, spending on experiences brings happiness.

Neither is necessarily right or wrong. They are simply carrying different experiences and values.

That is why, as a couple, it is important to understand:

What does money mean to me?
What makes me feel financially safe?
What are my fears around money?
What kind of life do we want to create together?

When couples understand each other’s money stories and consciously create common goals, many money arguments start reducing.

This, for me, is an important part of money maturity.

Money maturity is not about whether you are a saver or a spender.

It is about becoming aware of your values, understanding your own security needs, respecting your partner’s money story and then making financial decisions together.

Two people. Two different money stories. One shared life.

And the journey is to create a money story that both can feel safe and happy living with.

“Before You Ask Where to Invest, Ask This…”

In my years of working with individuals and families, I have observed something very important:

There is no fixed financial solution that can work for everyone.

Why?

Because every person has a different story.

Different fears.
Different childhood experiences.
Different family backgrounds.
Different relationships.
Different experiences with money.
Different dreams.
And different hopes from their hard earned money.

Money is not just numbers on a statement.

Money carries emotions, memories, expectations and sometimes, even fears.

I have also seen that even a husband and wife may not think about money in the same way.

They may earn together, live together and plan their future together, but their relationship with money can be completely different.

For one person, money may mean security.

For another, it may mean freedom.

For someone else, it may mean success, responsibility, independence or simply peace of mind.

And this is why I believe that before asking:

“Where should I invest my money?”

we should first ask:

“What does money mean to me?”

This is where the journey towards money maturity begins.

Money maturity is not only about knowing investments, returns, taxation or asset allocation.

It is about understanding our own relationship with money and then aligning our money with the life we want to live.

Because when we understand our own story, our fears and our priorities, we can begin to make better choices with our money.

To take control of our financial life, we must first understand our relationship with money.

So, let me ask you :

What is your relationship with money?

Take a moment.

Think about your answer.

Maybe the answer to this question is more important than you think.

MONEY & LIFE

My clients have taught me some of the most important lessons about money.

I have seen people with plenty of wealth and success and yet, they are not happy.

Why?

Because wealth can give you choices, but it cannot automatically give you peace, ease or clarity.

When we feel unhappy, stressed or insecure, we often tell ourselves:

“I need more money.”
“I need more investments.”
“I need a bigger house.”

But pause.

Maybe your feeling is trying to tell you something deeper.

More money cannot solve loneliness.
More investments cannot fix relationships.
A bigger house cannot create inner peace.
A higher income cannot give you purpose.

Before creating your portfolio, understand yourself.

Ask:

What do I really want my money to do for my life?

Because money is not the destination.

Money is a tool to help you create the life that matters to you.

Life & Money - The Same Boat

“I am a creative person. I don’t like accounts and numbers.”

I have heard this many times. And it always makes me wonder:

Is money bad? Does money reduce creativity?

As a Finance person I see money differently.

Money carries energy. That energy needs to be aligned with our individual values, family values and the values we want to contribute to society.

Life and money are not two different boats.

They are the same boat.

You are sailing through the river of life. To reach somewhere meaningful, you need to consciously steer your boat every day.

Understanding and managing your money is not about becoming obsessed with numbers.

It is about taking charge of your boat.

When you sail your money consciously, it can create the freedom to pursue your creativity, care for your family, contribute to society and live a purposeful life.

Money is not the destination.
It is the energy that can help you sail towards the life you value.

So, hold the oar.
Know your direction.
And sail your boat consciously.

From Confusion to Clarity 💭➡️✨

Many of us feel torn between two beliefs:
“If I focus on money, I’ll lose peace.”
“If I focus on life, I’ll ignore money.”

This false choice keeps us confused
and climbing the wrong ladder.

Clarity begins when money reflects our values:
• Earn ethically
• Spend consciously
• Save & invest with clarity, not fear

Then money stops controlling life
and starts supporting it.

Money isn’t the enemy.
It’s an energy that serves a meaningful, balanced life.

Life isn’t defined by how you make money.
It’s about how you live.

Life first.
Values first.
Money as support -not control.

When money flows in alignment, it becomes Happy Money.
Growth doesn’t steal peace.
Success doesn’t demand exhaustion.

Happy Rich is living aligned.

Three Functions of Money

Money plays three simple yet powerful roles in our lives:

Exchange – to meet daily needs and express care through giving and contributing.
Saving – money paused for safety, stability, and inner confidence.
Growth – money invested with patience to support dreams, freedom, and legacy.

When spending is mindful, saving is responsible, and growth is intentional—
money stops creating anxiety and starts supporting life quietly.

Live Happy. Live Rich.
