🚨 **Advance Tax Alert – Important for Taxpayers & Business Owners**
15th March is the **last date to pay the final instalment of Advance Tax for FY 2025–26**.
Normally, if you miss this deadline, **interest under Section 234C of the Income Tax Act** is charged. And many taxpayers don’t realise this — even a **delay of just one day can lead to interest being charged for an entire month**.
But this year there’s an important twist 👇
📅 **15 March 2026 falls on a Sunday**
As per an **Income Tax Circular which is still in force**, if the last date for payment of advance tax falls on a **Sunday or a public holiday**, the tax can be paid on the **next working day without interest or penalty**.
This means payment made on **Monday, 16 March 2026** should not attract **interest under Section 234C**, even though it is technically after the due date.
However, from a practical standpoint, it is always advisable to **pay the advance tax on or before 15th March** to avoid any unnecessary notices from the department.
