Objective of this RFA
This RFA is issued to announce funding availability for eligible Jordanian SMEs and Startups within the tourism sector. The funding aims to provide tailored support to a variety of tourism-related businesses including service providers, hotels, camps, accommodations, restaurants, and tour operators. The objective is to assist a cluster of tourism SMEs and Startups in elevating their productivity and competitiveness in response to the challenges and shifts brought about by the new norm in Tourism as well as the impact of the current crisis in Gaza.
The RFA targets SMEs and Startups in Amman and the Governorates with special focus on Aqaba Governorate.
The business objectives outlined in this RFA are to assist tourism SMEs and Startups as follows:
• Attract Resilient Markets: Focus on penetrating Arab, Asian, and African markets by
understanding and catering to their specific travel preferences and needs.
• Adapt Offerings for Niche Markets: Tailor SME products and services to meet the demands of
specific niche markets, enhancing relevance and appeal.
• Maintain Competitiveness and Relevance: Stay ahead by adapting to emerging market trends,
aligning business strategies with evolving consumer preferences, and embracing digital
transformation within the industry landscape.
• Ensure Quality and High Service Standards: Implement measures to maintain or enhance the
quality of services provided, ensuring high standards that lead to customer satisfaction.
• Embrace Sustainability and Environmental Best Practices: Adopt sustainability principles and
environmental best practices to align with European market requirements and Jordan’s
modernization vision, which emphasizes sustainability in all sectors as per the national vision
declaration.
Eligible Applicants
SMEs and Startups that are interested in applying should satisfy the following criteria:
• Registration: Legal entity established, registered, and operational in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Registration is completed at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply (MoITS), or any other relevant ministry. Registration status should be “Active.”
o SMEs should be registered for more than three (3) years.
o Start-ups should be registered for less than three (3) years.
• Ownership: Legal entity with more than 51% private ownership.
• Number of employees:
o SMEs between 10 and 250 including part-time employees. Full-time employees work 40
hours per week. Part-time employees work less than 40 hours per week, including seasonal
workers. This criterion is not applicable for start-ups.
