𝐍𝐊𝐆 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐦 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, is a sustainability and traceability program by Neumann Kaffee Gruppe (NKG) for coffee farms.
During NKG Verified inspections/audits, farms are assessed against
• economic,
• environmental,
• social sustainability criteria.

Additional implemented practices also assessed are
•🌱 Farm mapping, soil conservation, pesticides, water and waste management
•👷 Working conditions, wages, working hours, contracts, health and safety
•🚫 Child labor, forced labor, discrimination and harassment
•🌳 Forest and ecosystem protection
•📋 Record keeping, traceability and production/processing practices

For NKG suppliers the criteria are assessed through ;
• annual internal audits,
• third-party audits every three years on a sample of farms and other supply-chain entities.

NKG Verified currently operates in several coffee-producing countries, including 𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐲𝐚, 𝐄𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐚, 𝐔𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚, 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚, 𝐕𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐧𝐚𝐦, 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐳𝐢𝐥, 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐚, 𝐌𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐜𝐨 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐚

𝐔𝐄𝐁𝐓 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

The UEBT Sourcing with Respect Conference 2026 will run from 18-19 November 2026 at Movenpick Hotel, Amsterdam with the theme: 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐬.
It will focus on the business case for sourcing botanicals with respect for people and biodiversity. It will convene more than 200 companies to discuss and reaffirm how the business value of ethical sourcing is crucial for all supply chain actors.

Our team is on the ground at the FINAS (Financing Agri-Food Systems Sustainably) 2026 Summit, running from June 30 to July 2 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.

This year's theme, "Towards Sustainable Financial Architecture for Africa's Food Systems," resonates deeply with our mission. Certification and verification play a crucial role in building trust, ensuring food safety, and enabling access to sustainable markets across the continent.

Our colleague Mike Kioku will be representing Africert, engaging with stakeholders from across the agri-food value chain. He will have the opportunity to connect with potential partners, sharing insights on how independent verification supports sustainable agricultural practices and strengthens food systems.

The summit provides a valuable platform for dialogue on financing sustainable agri-food systems across Africa. We are excited about the conversations and collaborations taking shape.

👥 For Smallholder Groups – Option 2 Certification

Smallholder farmers can achieve GlobalG.A.P. certification through Option 2: Group Certification. This allows a group of producers (like a cooperative) to share a single certificate under a unified Quality Management System.

This approach:
✅ Reduces individual costs and audit burden
✅ Provides access to formal markets and export opportunities
✅ Builds credibility and resilience for smallholders competing globally

📈 A Stepwise Path to Certification

For farmers new to certification, GlobalG.A.P. offers the Primary Farm Assurance (PFA) program – a capacity-building initiative with three levels that provide a gradual, accessible path to full certification.

The East African Organic Products Standard (EAOPS) provides a harmonized framework for organic production and processing within East Africa. The standard promotes sustainable agricultural practices while facilitating trade in certified organic products across the region.
EAOPS certification covers various scopes, including crop production, livestock production, beekeeping, wild collection, and processing activities.

As consumer awareness of food quality, environmental sustainability, and traceability continues to grow, organic certification has become an essential tool for demonstrating compliance with recognized organic production standards. AfriCert Limited undertakes inspections and certification of operators against internationally recognized organic standards, including the EU Organic Regulation.

𝐄𝐔 𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

EU Organic Certification is based on Regulation (EU) 2018/848 and its associated delegated and implementing acts. The regulation establishes requirements for the production, processing, handling, labelling, and marketing of organic products destined for the European Union market.
Through independent inspections and certification, operators can demonstrate compliance with the requirements governing organic crop production, processing, handling, and trade.

NKG Verified offers customers traceable coffees that meet key sustainability criteria. It provides visibility into identified supply chains and their performance on key economic, social and environmental indicators. With every shipment of NKG Verified coffees, customers receive an easy-to-read sustainability report detailing each indicator and how it scored, as well as the coffee’s overall sustainability score. NKG Verified fills the gap between sustainability certifications brought upon producers from the outside and the actual needs and shortcomings locally. It also provides a solid basis to offer coffee produced under sustainable conditions and in accordance with local laws. All Nkg verified suppliers are verified by a third party.
Africert Limited is currently qualified to conduct the inspections and we also have trained inspectors in Kenya, Rwanda, Ethiopia and Tanzania
