📌UBO Filing Deadline Extended

Companies in Sri Lanka should take note of the revised deadline for submitting Ultimate Beneficial Ownership (UBO) information.

📌 New Deadline: 21 October 2026

The previously applicable deadline of 30 September 2026 has been extended.

Who should take note?
Companies and relevant persons who have not yet completed their UBO submissions should review their records and ensure the required information is submitted within the revised timeline.

Why does UBO compliance matter?
Accurate beneficial ownership information helps maintain transparent and up-to-date corporate records and supports compliance with Sri Lanka's company law requirements.

Don't leave your UBO compliance until the last minute.

📢 Important TIN Update for Sri Lankan Citizens

From 1 November 2026, a valid Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) Certificate will be required for several specified transactions, including banking, building-plan approvals, vehicle registration/renewal, land registration, business registration, share transfers, and credit-card applications.

A TIN is already mandatory for specified resident individuals aged 18 and above under the applicable provisions.

If you haven't obtained your TIN yet, now is a good time to check your registration status and be prepared for the upcoming requirement.
