Since I began my career as a Nirvana Life Planner, I have served many families.
However, one client remains deeply etched in my memory.
That day, I saw a mother who didn't look like a local, visiting her husband all by herself with three children in tow. The eldest was about seven, the second was four, and the youngest was still in a stroller, barely a year old.
I approached her to chat. I learned that she was Indonesian and had met her husband after moving to Malaysia. I noticed she had prepared vegetarian meals, fruits, and pastries for the visit, so I curiously asked, "Are you a Buddhist, too?"
She smiled and replied:
"No, I am a Christian; my husband was the Buddhist."
Then, she said something that I have kept in my heart to this day:
"It is because of love, and also because of respect."
She told me that because she loved her husband and respected the faith he held throughout his life, every time she came to pay her respects, she would prepare offerings according to Buddhist traditions. She would hold the incense, pray, and burn joss paper and paper offerings, hoping to send her longing and blessings to her beloved.
At that moment, I was truly moved.
It turns out that true love is not about demanding that the other person become just like you. Instead, it is the willingness to respect because of love, and to embrace because of respect.
As we talked further, we discovered that two years ago, when her husband was ill, my brother’s friend and I had visited their home to help them. I never expected that two years later, we would meet again here.
Fate is truly remarkable. ❤️
After the memorial, she led her three children to their father’s niche to say goodbye. The children kissed their father’s photograph, and they took a precious family photo together.
That scene is something I will never be able to forget.
Since I started working at Nirvana, I have often witnessed moments like these.
A person may have departed, but the love of their family never truly leaves. It remains, hidden in every thought, every visit, and every time someone softly whispers, "I’ve come to see you."
❤️
