Further to the Media Statement issued on 26 June 2026, the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia has extended the Stamp Duty Special Voluntary Disclosure Programme (SVDP) for 6 months until 31 December 2026, providing duty payers additional time to stamp the eligible instruments and pay the relevant stamp duty on or before 31 December 2026.

MFRS 18 ‘Presentation and Disclosure in Financial Statements’ was issued by the Malaysian Accounting Standards Board (MASB) in June 2024. MFRS 18 replaces MFRS 107 ‘Presentation of Financial Statements’ for annual reporting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2027.

This publication provides a concise snapshot of MFRS 18’s key requirements and will cover the following:

• MFRS 18’s transition requirements
• Reconstruction of the statement of profit or loss
• Mandatory disclosures for management-defined performance measures (MPMs)
• Aggregation and disaggregation of information in the financial statements
• Consequential amendments to other MFRS Accounting Standards

Congratulations to Mr Alan Chung, our Senior Executive Director of Tax Advisory & Compliance, on his election as President of the Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia (CTIM) on 20 June 2026.

Having served as CTIM's Deputy President since 2024, Alan now takes on the President role, reflecting his longstanding commitment and contributions to the tax profession.
