Accounting Research Institute Accounting Research Institute (ARI) is a higher institutions' centre of excellence (HICoE) established by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.

There are currently four research clusters at ARI: (1) Islamic-Based Innovation for Value Creation; (2) Integrity, Governance & Risk Management; (3) Anti-Money Laundering Mechanisms and (4) Fraud Detection & Investigation Methodologies It is located at the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM)main campus in Shah Alam, MALAYSIA

Today, we acknowledge the retirement of Tan Sri Dato' Sri Haji Azam bin Baki from his role as Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
As an Adjunct Professor at the Accounting Research Institute, we sincerely appreciate the time, knowledge, and experience he has shared with our academic community.
ARI will continue to learn from Tan Sri’s extensive expertise and experience in anti-corruption management and governance, which have contributed meaningfully to our academic and research environment.
We thank Tan Sri for his contributions to ARI and wish him well in his future endeavors.

We were honoured to receive Dr. Norazam bin Mohd Noor, Special Duties Officer (PTTK I) to the Director-General of Public Service, at the Accounting Research Institute (ARI), UiTM on 2 March 2026.

The session focused on a pre-discussion regarding upcoming training initiatives and the development of content for the Government of Malaysia policy book. Key areas deliberated included the appropriate format, enhancing academicians’ understanding of the scope of writing, and clarifying their roles in contributing to policy-related publications.

We look forward to strengthening collaboration between academia and public service in advancing high-quality, impactful policy development for Malaysia.

Meeting on the Accounting Fraud Working Group – 29 January 2026

On 29 January 2026 in Melaka, a strategic business meeting was convened to discuss the direction and work plan of the Accounting Fraud Working Group. The meeting was hosted and chaired by Tuan Shahrul Nizar Mohd Shariff, KPKPj (Head of the Financial Analysis Division, Bahagian Analisa Kewangan, at the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (SPRM)), a division responsible for providing financial analysis support in complex investigations.

Also present at the meeting was Dato’ Mohd Hafaz Nazar, Director of the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Academy(MACA), who provided valuable and constructive input, particularly on structured capacity-building initiatives and professional training in accounting fraud and financial analysis.

The meeting was attended by representatives from key government and professional bodies, including Jabatan Audit Negara (JAN), Jabatan Akauntan Negara Malaysia (JANM), Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri Malaysia (LHDN), Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM), Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), and Accounting Research Institute, Universiti Teknologi MARA (ARI, UiTM).

The UiTM delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Zuraidah Mohd Sanusi, together with Prof. Dr. Nor Balkish Zakaria and Dr. Farah Aida Nadzri. The UiTM team expressed their commitment to offer expertise and collaborate actively in supporting the Working Group’s programmes, particularly in the design and delivery of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) training and seminars planned for 2026.

Overall, the meeting reflected a strong shared commitment among enforcement, regulatory, professional and academic institutions to enhance fraud prevention and detection capabilities through coordinated training, knowledge sharing and sustained inter-agency collaboration.
