Dr. Pastra Arinze Etie Commends Governor Alex Otti for Revolutionizing Revenue Collection in Abia State
During a working visit to the Patent Medicine Dealers Association in Umuahia North, Dr. Pastra Arinze Etie, Group Managing Director of BemsSoft and Abia State’s SuperAgent for Revenue Collection, applauded Governor Alex Otti for eliminating decades of revenue leakages through technology-driven reforms.
He revealed that under previous administrations, only 20% of collected revenue reached the state’s account, while the remaining 80% was diverted into private pockets due to manual processes and revenue scavengers.
Today, Governor Otti has:
🔹 Dismantled revenue scavengers & multiple task forces
🔹 Implemented a fully automated digital revenue system
🔹 Eliminated cash handling and human interference
🔹 Introduced unified electronic demand notices across all agencies
🔹 Ensured all payments are made online via credit cards, USSD, and instant transfers
🔹 Provided real-time tracking with digital receipts and notifications
Dr. Etie described the new system as “a groundbreaking innovation that tracks every transaction from issuance of demand notice to final payment—ensuring full transparency and accountability.”
He further commended the Executive Chairman of BIR, Prof. Udochukwu Ogbonna, and Special Adviser on IGR, Dr. Emmanuel Okpechi, for effectively implementing the Governor’s vision.
This reform has improved ease of doing business, boosted confidence among traders, and positioned Abia State as a leading model for digital governance in Nigeria.
“Abia State, under Governor Alex Otti’s leadership, is taking bold steps to digitalize governance and empower local businesses for global relevance,” Dr. Etie noted.
