ABU GOVERNING COUNCIL VISITS SAMARU COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE

The Chairman of the Governing Council of Ahmadu Bello University, Alh. Yayale Ahmed, on Monday, 27th July 2026, visited the Horticulture Unit of Samaru College of Agriculture, Zaria.

Accompanied by members of the Governing Council, the Chairman inspected the various production sections of the Unit and was conducted round by the Provost, Prof. Ibrahim Usman. The Provost highlighted the Unit's mandate in the production of fruits, vegetables, ornamental plants, seedlings, beekeeping, and honey production, as well as its role in practical training, research, revenue generation, and community engagement.

The Director, DAC, Prof. Bashir Ahmad Babaji, appreciated the Council for the visit and reaffirmed the College's commitment to enhancing horticultural productivity and promoting sustainable best practices.

The visit further demonstrates ABU's commitment to strengthening agricultural education, practical training, research, innovation, and community development.

It was a day of appreciation, reflection, and celebration as Samaru College of Agriculture organised a send-forth ceremony on Tuesday, 21st July, 2026, to honour its retired staff.

The ceremony recognised their years of dedicated service, loyalty, and immense contributions to the growth and success of the College and Ahmadu Bello University.

NOTICE OF POSTPONEMENT OF SEND-FORTH CEREMONY FOR RETIREES

This is to formally inform you that the Sendforth Ceremony for retirees, previously scheduled to hold on Thursday, 25th June 2026, has been postponed until further notice.

The postponement is necessitated by a scheduling conflict with the Ahmadu Bello University Senate meeting taking place at the same.

We sincerely regret any inconvenience this change may cause. A new date for the ceremony will be communicated in due course.

Excellence in Ethical Leadership: CESVO Honors Professor Usman Ibrahim and Samaru College of Agriculture, DAC, ABU, Zaria

Professor Usman Ibrahim has emerged as the overall Best and Corruption-Free Provost among Colleges of Agriculture in Nigeria, while Samaru College of Agriculture, Division of Agricultural Colleges, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, has been ranked among the Top 10 Most Ethically Responsible and Public Service Ethics-Compliant Federal MDAs. These recognitions were conferred by the Centre for Ethics and Self Value Orientation following a rigorous, transparent, and merit-based nationwide evaluation aligned with its mission to promote ethical governance and accountability.

Within this framework, Professor Usman Ibrahim distinguished himself through outstanding performance in public accessibility, participatory leadership, ethical integrity, due process compliance, fiscal responsibility, and commitment to national development. His leadership was widely affirmed for transparency, accountability, and innovation in institutional management.
