Bowron Sheepskins Bowron Sheepskins, founded in 1879, is renowned for specializing in premium-quality sheepskin products.

Based here in Christchurch New Zealand, we are recognized for our commitment to sustainable practices and the use of ethically sourced materials. In 1879 two brothers, George and William Bowron, master tanners of Yorkshire, set sail for Christchurch in the new colony of New Zealand.They were to start a new life and realise a personal dream ... to start a tannery of their own. As Christchurch grew, the small tannery, started in 1881 by the Bowron brothers, flourished and a family tradition of excellence in lambskin tanning began. Their commitment to quality has continued and over 100 years later, the team at Bowron continue to make the name "Bowron" synonymous with the world's finest sheepskin products.

That's right — 9 genuine New Zealand sheepskins, carefully cut, sewn and skilfully crafted together to create one incredibly cosy NZ Sheepskin Beanbag.

Every skin is carefully selected to begin hours of skilled workmanship, attention to detail and the natural beauty of real sheepskin to bring this beanbag to life. Tanned and finished by the expert team then custom sewn by Tina at Bowron Sheepskins

Our team has just completed another 1,000 BabyCare Sheepskin Play Rugs! A fantastic effort from everyone involved.

Coming through the tannery now are our undyed Signature Natural Blacks and the famous Bowron BabyCare sheepskins. Trolley loads heading to finishing!

We often get asked if Bowron makes sheepskin slippers. We don’t make the slippers ourselves — we supply the sheepskin to the talented Kiwi manufacturers who do. 🇳🇿

The same goes for many other products. Our sheepskins are supplied to manufacturers making everything from footwear and horse saddlery to a wide range of specialist products.

Bowron isn’t just about sheepskins for the home. A big part of what we do is supplying quality sheepskin to New Zealand businesses who turn it into great products, right here in NZ. Our Kiwi Manufacturers deliver hands down, the best quality money can buy.
