Olivia, Beks and Cherie from the Oxford Edge team joined nearly 300 women at One New Zealand Stadium last Thursday for Canterbury's Women in Business event.

We heard some real, honest stories from three inspiring leaders: Alice Fitzgerald from Gut Foundation NZ, Mary Devine ONZM from Foodstuffs South Island, and Hon Nicola Grigg, MP for Selwyn.

A big highlight was seeing Alice on stage. We work alongside Alice and The Gut Foundation team, and it was great to hear more about her own leadership journey. 💚

Our takeaway from the evening: Be where your feet are! 👣

Health. Wealth. Resilience. Wellbeing.

Four big topics for one Spring evening and plenty to think about afterwards.

Our Directors Anna Riley and Belinda Canton, and Associate Director Olivia Flyger, joined Forsyth Barr for a conversation led by Zoe Wallis, Investment Strategist, with Laura McGoldrick and Janine Morrell-Gunn.

Laura spoke openly about backing yourself, adapting when things change and managing the competing demands that come with work and life.

Janine shared more about the work of Māia Health Foundation and the difference community support can make to healthcare here in Canterbury.

The strongest conversations are often the ones that cut across the usual business topics. This was one of them.

And with the event at One New Zealand Stadium, there was also the chance to experience Christchurch’s newest venue from a rather different perspective. Not a bad backdrop for a night out of the office.

The future of accounting probably won’t be built by doing more of what we’ve always done.

Yesterday, Oxford Edge Director Anna Riley joined Dorian Crighton from Baker Tilly Staples Rodway Christchurch for a Future Fit Firms panel at Bar Franco.

Hosted by FeeSynergy, FYI and FuseWorks, the session brought together people from across Christchurch’s professional services community to talk about the challenges firms are facing, what’s making the biggest difference to efficiency, and what it really takes to modernise.

For us, being “future fit” isn’t about chasing every new piece of technology. It’s about being curious, testing what works, improving systems and processes, and being prepared to change direction when there’s a better way.

Thanks to Dorian for sharing the panel with Anna, and to Karley Norton from FeeSynergy, Andrea Roberts from FYI, and our former Oxford Edge colleague Ciara O’Halloran from FuseWorks for bringing everyone together.

And Bar Franco wasn’t a bad place for the conversation either. 🍷

⚽ What a day at One NZ Stadium!

A few of the Oxford Edge team headed along on Saturday to support Cashmere Technical in the Chatham Cup Final.

With 11,267 spectators there for the stadium’s first football event, it was a fantastic atmosphere and a special occasion for Christchurch football.

While the result didn’t go Tech’s way, with Fencibles United winning 2–1, we were especially proud to see our very own Charlie Peacocke get some time on the field. Not every day you get to cheer on one of your colleagues in a national cup final!

Congratulations to Charlie and the Cashmere Technical team on a tremendous cup run, and to Fencibles United on their first Chatham Cup title. 👏

🏀 A huge night for StAC Basketball!

What a result for St Andrew’s College, with both Senior teams taking out their respective NZCT competitions.

The Senior Girls won the Whelan Trophy for the seventh year in a row, defeating Cashmere High School 101-30.

The Senior Boys also made history, winning the Thomson Trophy for the first time with a 107-79 victory over Cashmere.

Pictured is Year 12 player Benji Marsh, who has had a standout year of his own, including making his Canterbury Rams NZNBL debut and being named in the U18 National Championship All-Star Five.

⚽ A big weekend for our very own Charlie Peacocke! ⚽

Huge congratulations to Charlie and the Cashmere Technical team, who are through to the 2026 Chatham Cup Final after a 2-1 win over Napier City Rovers yesterday.

The Chatham Cup is New Zealand’s premier men’s knockout football competition, so making the final is a fantastic achievement.

Charlie has been part of the Cashmere Technical squad throughout the season and we’re very proud to have one of the finalists in the Oxford Edge team.

Next up, Cashmere Technical will take on Auckland’s Fencibles United in the final on the first weekend of September. And watch this space - the game may even be in Christchurch! 👀

It was also a double celebration for Cashmere Technical, with the women’s first team winning their semi-final and booking a place in the Kate Sheppard Cup Final for the first time in the club’s history.

What a weekend for the club. Huge congrats Charlie - we’ll be backing you and the team! 👏⚽

🏀 Backing the StAC Senior Girls

As a proud sponsor of St Andrew’s College basketball, Oxford Edge is pleased to support the Senior Girls team as they head into the playoff stage of the NZCT Whelan Trophy.

The team has won the competition for the past six years and continues to show the determination, talent and teamwork that have made it so successful.

Pictured are Year 10 player Maiyah Lavea-Martin and Year 13 player Ava Jones.

Maiyah recently captained Canterbury to its second consecutive National U16 Championship and was named the tournament’s U16 Girls Most Valuable Player and selected in the All-Star Five for the second year running.

Ava recently represented New Zealand at the FIBA U17 Women’s Basketball World Cup, where the team finished fifth in the world. She has also signed to play college basketball for Santa Clara University in California.

We wish Maiyah, Ava and the full StAC Senior Girls team all the best for their upcoming playoff games. We’ll be cheering you on!
