It was awesome to get both teams together a couple of weeks ago to host our Mid-Winter Xmas get-together!

Even with eight of the team away sick, we made things happen and met up at Tenpin Tauranga for an office vs office bowling comp.

Maisey Harris & Co Tauranga took out the win, but the individual prizes were shared around. Kanj won best bowling moves, Danny got best score, and Tash picked up best cheerleader!

We rounded out the afternoon with a split between laser tag and mini golf, then all caught up for a well-deserved dinner and drinks at Latitude 37.

Say hello to Ange, the newest face in our Client Services team!

Ange joins us with over 20 years of customer experience under her belt, bringing a genuine passion for helping people and keeping operations running smoothly. She's all about looking after our clients (Want a hot drink? She's got you sorted) and making sure everything flows seamlessly for the team.

Outside of work, Ange is a proud mum to her two young kids (aged 2 and 5) who keep her plenty busy. When she gets a spare moment, you'll find her out in the garden working on her green thumb, or baking up something tasty for her family and friends.

We're stoked to have you as a part of our team, Ange!

We had a great time sponsoring and attending the Soda Inc. Women in Business Expo last week! It was awesome to see nearly 200 local women come together in The Atrium for an event full of collaboration and learning.

Some of our highlights were hearing from Veronica Harwood-Stevenson from Humble Bee Bio, particularly on the importance of trusting your gut, as well as collectively taking time to understand that success doesn't happen overnight. This tied into many conversations we had at our stand with women wanting to turn a hobby or part-time gig into something bigger, but feeling hesitant about making that leap.

For those who stopped by and asked for our Business Health Check questionnaire, get in touch, and we can forward you the link.

We also drew our business card giveaway for a free one-on-one Business Health Check session with the team. Congratulations to Karren Tangaere from Wild Coast Collective, we'll get in touch directly to get that booked in!

Lastly, we've got some exciting news: we've got some new workshops being developed behind the scenes. We can't reveal too much right now, but keep an eye on this space, and we will share the details as soon as they are ready.

Wondering if your business idea has the legs to be a viable business in the current market? We've put together a few important questions to ask yourself before taking the leap.

Is there demand in the market? Above everything else, you need paying customers. Research whether your target market exists and will buy what you are selling. Look for hard evidence, not just polite feedback from mates.

Is the business financially viable? Work on the numbers to make sure your pricing covers expenses, software subscriptions, and tax obligations, leaving a true profit after recurring operational costs.

How much will it cost to acquire customers? Account for the time and budget needed for marketing, ads, and content creation. You will want to know your acquisition cost per lead, so promo costs do not drain your startup capital.

What’s a realistic profit target? Set a lean net profit goal to begin with. Aim to clear initial baseline costs within the first 6 to 12 months, then set a clear profit milestone for the longer term.

How much time will your startup business take up? Look at your existing schedule and see if you can commit the required hours for operations, customer service, and admin while still working, or if it needs to fund your salary too.

If you think your business idea is ready to go, come chat to our team. We offer one-off advisory services to help you get started.

We're stoked to see our very own Daniel Honiss, named as a finalist for Advisor of the Year at this year's The Gap AIM Awards!

This award recognises advisors who are breaking the traditional accounting mold by delivering future-focused, strategic value for their clients.

If you've worked with Dan, you won't be surprised to see him nominated. He is passionate about helping business owners look past the numbers to scale their businesses and achieve their goals, something that embodies the award description, and our values here at MHCo.

The team is looking forward to celebrating with you on the awards night in September!

Are you an aspiring entrepreneur, startup founder, or business owner?

We’re excited to be sponsoring the Soda Inc. Women in Business Expo this year on the 23rd of July! This 3-hour session is a fantastic opportunity to connect, learn, and grow alongside other women in business in Aotearoa New Zealand, build new relationships, and share ideas.

The session includes a light lunch, a welcome + Q&A session from guest speaker Veronica Stevenson from Humble Bee Bio, and plenty of time to network.

You'll have the chance to chat with various support agencies about your business - including our team. We’d love to hear all about your business journey and chat through how we can help you achieve your goals

This is a free event, but tickets are limited. RSVP at the link below; we’d love to see you there:

We're over halfway through the calendar year and into Q2 of the FY already. If you haven't already created a business plan, we would love to help.

We have a proven framework and experience facilitating hundreds of these for businesses of all shapes and sizes. Our Business Planning session gets to the heart and soul of your business, and you’ll walk out with a clear, one-page plan that keeps you on course.

But what does it actually do for your business?

It keeps you moving when the market doesn’t: As we know, the economy is unpredictable, a flexible strategy means you can pivot when things shift, rather than being caught flat-footed.

It gives you a real edge over competitors: Businesses that can react fast to changes in the market seize opportunities that others miss.

It’s part of being a good leader: As a business owner or CEO, keeping your strategy current is part of the job, and communicating parts of it with everyone in your organisation means everyone is working towards a common goal.

It keeps your goals on track: An easy-to-follow, up-to-date business plan keeps you pointed in the right direction as well as provides accountability for actions and milestones.

If your current business strategy doesn't look like this, or you don't have one at all, this is your sign to get in touch.

As a business owner, it might feel like there’s never enough time, headspace, or momentum to make real progress. Our group workshop programme, Planning for Success, is designed to change that, but be quick, spots are limited!

Each quarter, we get a group of like-minded business owners together for a facilitated 3-hour session to take time out from working IN their business to focus on working ON it. You’ll have the opportunity to learn from others, set goals, and be held accountable to actually follow through on the things that matter most.

We’re committed to helping our clients achieve the Three Freedoms: time freedom, mind freedom, and financial freedom. Planning for Success is how we get you there.

We open intakes twice a year, and limit spaces to just 12 businesses. We’ll have a quick chat to make sure it's a good fit for everyone, and that there are no direct competing businesses.

The first session is on us, so you can come and get a feel of what it's all about and see the value. Strictly limited spots, so get in quick.

P.S. You don’t have to be an MHCo client to get involved.
