Why is it so hard to let go?

Whether it's the family home, a long-held investment, or belongings filled with memories, our financial decisions are often influenced by more than numbers.

Behavioral finance calls this the endowment effect—our tendency to value something more simply because we own it.

Understanding this common bias doesn't mean ignoring our emotions. It means recognizing that both our feelings and the financial realities deserve a place in the decision-making process.

In our latest blog, we explore:
- Why letting go can feel so difficult
- The psychology behind the endowment effect
- Questions that can help bring clarity to important financial decisions
- How to honor memories while making confident choices for the future

If you're facing a decision about selling a home, reducing a concentrated investment, or moving into a new chapter of life, this article offers thoughtful insights to help you navigate the journey.

Financial literacy is key to making confident decisions — and that’s what is all about.

One of the most common questions I get as a financial adviser is —
“Which KiwiSaver fund should I choose?”

The truth is, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer.
The right KiwiSaver fund depends on your goals, timeline, and comfort with risk.

Here’s a simple guide to get you thinking:
- Conservative Fund – Best if you’re close to retirement or planning to withdraw soon (like buying your first home). Lower risk, lower return.

- Balanced Fund – Ideal if you want moderate growth but still prefer some stability. Great for medium-term goals.

-Growth Fund – Suited for long-term investors (10+ years). Higher risk but also higher potential returns.

Tip: The earlier you start, the more time your money has to grow — so review your fund regularly and make sure it aligns with your goals.

Need help finding the right KiwiSaver fund for your financial journey?
Let’s talk — I can help you choose the fund that matches your future.

: Build an Emergency Buffer!

Life happens—cars break down, kids get sick, jobs change. Having an emergency fund means you won’t need to rely on credit cards or loans when the unexpected pops up.

- Aim for 3–6 months of living expenses.
- Start small—$20 a week adds up fast.
- Keep it in a separate, easy-access savings account.
