Today’s announcement changes what’s possible for New Zealand Sharemilkers.

We're pleased to celebrate that our strategic partner, StoneX, has been granted a Retail Derivatives Issuer Licence by New Zealand's Financial Markets Authority (FMA).

In a first for New Zealand, Sharemilkers, using Milk Price Protection available through Figured, will now be able to independently access a milk price hedging solution.

This is true decision-making independence for Sharemilkers who can now manage their milk price risk independently of land owners, without requiring joint signatures or side contracts.

For all dairy farm operators in New Zealand, it’s an important step forward in improving access to trusted, sophisticated risk management solutions that help strengthen business resilience, improve financial planning, and support investment across the sector.

A huge thank you to the team at Kiwi Clubhouse Learning Centre for their fantastic fundraising efforts and for delivering a delicious morning tea to our team today.

It's wonderful to see so many amazing businesses (including our neighbors at ANZ), schools, and community groups around town getting behind Daffodil Day and supporting the incredible work of the Cancer Society. Every contribution makes a difference. 💛

The biggest change to New Zealand's leave and holiday system in decades has officially passed.

The new Employment Leave Act replaces the Holidays Act 2003 and is designed to simplify leave calculations, reduce payroll complexity, and improve confidence that employees are receiving the correct entitlements. Businesses will have a 24-month transition period to prepare for the changes.

Key changes include:
- Annual and sick leave accrued in hours, rather than weeks and days.
- Annual leave, sick leave, bereavement leave and family violence leave available from day one of employment.
- A single hourly rate for paying all types of leave, simplifying what has historically been one of the most complex areas of payroll.
- A new 12.5% Leave Compensation Payment for casual and additional hours worked, rather than accruing leave on those hours.
- Greater flexibility for employees to cash up to 25% of their annual leave balance each year.
- New rules for determining public holiday entitlements for employees with irregular work patterns.
- Mandatory, more transparent pay statements showing pay and leave information.

While implementation is still some time away, employers should begin considering the impact on payroll systems, employment agreements and leave management processes. This reform represents a significant shift in how leave is earned, tracked and paid across New Zealand workplaces.

Finding balance - For business owners, balance can mean managing clients, leading a team, planning for growth, and still making it to the school holiday movie, sports game, or family outing.

Life has seasons, and school holidays often remind us that sometimes family takes priority, sometimes work demands our attention, and often we're trying to navigate both at the same time.

Our Client Managers are passionate about helping business owners create businesses that support the life they want to live, not the other way around. They also understand the challenge of balance firsthand. Like many of our clients, they're juggling rewarding careers, family life, community commitments, and the everyday demands of modern life.

That's why they understand that behind every business is a person doing their best to make it all work. Because success isn't measured only in numbers. It's also measured in having time for the moments that matter most.
