Quick question… Do you actually know how solid your debtor process is?

Our Accounts Receivable WOF is a quick way to get a proper read on it.

✔ Takes a few minutes
✔ Gives you a risk rating
✔ Shows you what’s working and what’s not

Start with a quick questionnaire, then Jo, our debtor specialist, will run through your results with you on a free 15-minute call, highlighting a few simple tweaks that can make a real difference.

Sometimes it’s not a big fix.
Just the right ones.

IRD activity is definitely picking up.

We’re seeing it, and the latest Audit Shield data backs it up:

• Debt collection activity up 64%
• GST verifications up 53%
• Risk reviews up 300% (these are the early “we’re taking a look” ones)
• Full audits up 50%
• Income tax audits up 40%
• Rental property reviews have doubled

If you’re already a client, you would’ve seen our Audit Shield invite come through in early March, worth digging that out of your inbox (it’s probably sitting there behaving itself).

You can still opt in now (it’s pro-rated through to September), but one thing to keep in mind:

If IRD comes knocking first, you’ve missed the window. It’s one of those things you hope gathers dust… but it’s very useful if it doesn’t.

If you want to know more or get it in place, we’re here to help. Call us on 09 431 3068, email [email protected] or head to www.mytwocents.nz

Thinking about Airbnb, Bookabach or doing a few Uber shifts on the side? Or already in it and wondering why the numbers feel a bit… off?

This one’s worth a read.

From the outside, short-term accommodation and rideshare income can look like easy money. Behind the scenes, the GST and bookkeeping side has a few more moving parts than people expect. The platforms now handle charging and returning GST, but whether you’re GST registered or not still changes how it all works, and that’s where things can get murky fast.

We’re still seeing people get caught out by the wrong income figure, missed flat-rate credits or claiming GST on expenses when they shouldn’t. A few small things on their own, but enough to turn into a bigger tidy-up job later.

We’ve broken it down in our latest blog so it actually makes sense, whether you’re just getting started or already deep in the admin and second-guessing your spreadsheet.

Ever wondered how your debtor management would actually stack up?

Not just “it feels fine”… but where it really sits, what the risks are and what could be tightened up.

That’s exactly what our Accounts Receiveable WOF is designed to show you.

Answer a short questionnaire and based on your answers you’ll get a clear risk rating of your current setup.

Jo, our debtor specialist, will follow up with your results and a free 15-minute call to walk you through what’s looking solid, what could be tightened up and a few practical ways to improve things.

It’s about giving you a clear picture of where things stand, so you can decide what to do next.

What IRD can now see about your crypto might surprise you.

From 1 April, they’ve got a direct data feed from local and international crypto exchanges. So in simple terms, they can now see a lot more of what’s going on.

If crypto hasn’t been included in your tax return, IRD may still process it, then come back asking questions once something flags. That usually turns into a bit of back and forth to sort it out later (which depending on your accountant, may come with extra charges).

Unlike most investment or interest income, we don’t always see your crypto activity, so if we don’t know about it, we can’t include it in your tax return. Also worth knowing, plenty of people are sitting on crypto losses and those can sometimes be used to offset other income (and potentially put you in a better position).

If you've got crypto, let your accountant know upfront and they’ll make sure you’re not missing anything that could work in your favour... or end up charging you extra!

Many businesses are feeling the pinch right now.

Meanwhile, your bills still need paying, wages still go out and cashflow starts to tighten. We’re hearing this a lot lately and instead of stepping in when things get messy, we’d rather help you get ahead of it.

That’s where our Accounts Receivable WOF comes in.

It’s a complimentary check-up of your accounts receivable setup, designed to spot any gaps, tidy up your processes and help keep cash moving the way it should.

Think of it like a WOF for your debtor systems. A quick check to make sure everything’s running as smoothly as it could be.

Here’s how it works:
• Fill in a short questionnaire here:
https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=Lsj8OXVgMUOUFzNDlWKApiDATU3pck5LrMFjkYD3AzhUQ0QyUklUNzM4RTBBSzZBVDg2OU9QWkpZTC4u
• We review it and highlight any gaps or opportunities
• Then we jump on a free 15-minute call to walk you through it and talk next steps

It’s a simple way to get clear on where things stand and what to do next.

Click the link to complete the questionnaire and get a clearer view of where your business sits, and what to focus on next.

Getting it sorted ahead of time means no scrambling, no interest and no unnecessary stress.

If you want a second set of eyes on it, we’re here.

Your end of financial year questionnaire should already be in your inbox, so now’s the time to dig it out and get started.

The more complete it is, the easier this whole process will be. Attach the requested documents, include as much detail as you can, and get things like your reconciliations, sales, bills, loan or lease statements, and home office costs lined up now.

If you hold stock, your stocktake should already be done by now. If your stock is under $10,000, a reasonable estimate is fine. No need to count every last mystery box at the back of the shelf.

Make sure your Xero is reconciled through to 31 March too, including bank accounts, credit cards and any clearing accounts quietly hanging around in the background.

Then, once your draft annual accounts and tax return are ready, that’s when the next step kicks in.

Our blog, Guide to Reviewing your EOFY Financials, is a handy refresher on what to look for before you sign off:
https://www.mytwocents.nz/post/guide-to-reviewing-your-end-of-year-financials

But if you want more than a quick look through, this is where your Annual Accounts Review comes in.

This is the part where the numbers stop being just numbers. We walk you through them properly, confirm nothing has been missed, explain your tax position and talk through upcoming payments so you know exactly what you’re signing off on.

It’s not just about getting it filed. It’s about understanding what your numbers are telling you and what to pay attention to next.

Less guesswork, more clarity.

Want to make the most of your year-end numbers? Book your Annual Accounts Review.

Today is a quiet reminder of the sacrifices made by so many, and the lives, families and futures shaped because of it.

Taking a moment to reflect, remember and acknowledge what ANZAC Day truly stands for.

We remember them.
