Sometimes businesses mistakenly assume smaller perks like gift cards, gym memberships or occasional staff gifts fall outside the FBT rules 👀

In reality, these are often treated as unclassified benefits and may still be subject to FBT.

While there is a $300 per employee per quarter de minimis threshold, once that limit is exceeded the full amount becomes taxable, not just the excess ⚠️

Without proper tracking, these smaller benefits can quickly add up and create an unexpected tax liability.
