Rita's professional journey is equally impressive. With a background in education, she's a former early childhood education and cultural studies lecturer at WITT and the University of Canterbury, where she shared her knowledge and expertise with students.

But what truly sets Rita apart is her extraordinary lineage. As the great great granddaughter of Te Whiti o Rongomai, the 1800s leader of Parihaka and a global pioneer of peaceful nonviolent resistance, Rita carries forward a legacy of resilience and unity.
