The first five whare at Te Koha in Tokoroa are open, and ready for whānau to move in.

This is Ka Uruora walking alongside Raukawa, bringing housing pathways and financial support to whānau in Tokoroa. It's the start of a staged programme, with more homes coming right through to December.

Every whānau moving into a Te Koha home goes through Te Uru Ahupūtea first, our free financial literacy course - giving whānau the confidence and skills to stay in their home for good.

We've been sharing a lot about Te Koha, and the exciting opportunities for Raukawa uri to move into a beautiful, brand new whare.

Today we want to talk about what make those opportunities possible for whānau – our partnership with Ka Uruora.

Ka Uruora has a 2-bedroom apartment available at Moroki in Glen Innes, Tāmaki Makaurau. This is a warm, dry, purpose-built rental home in a thriving community - close to shops, cafés, schools, and public transport.

Rent is based on your income, and eligible iwi members may qualify for a rental rebate of 10-30%. A Ka Uruora navigator will support you through the whole process.

In October, we’ll be opening the doors to 24 new whare at Pukemokimoki!

Pukemokimoki is bringing three one-bedroom and 21 two-bedroom community rentals to Owen Street, Ahuriri.

These whare are built for whānau. For our kaumātua wanting somewhere warm and easy to look after, rangatahi finding their feet and low income whānau needing a secure and affordable home.

Just a few steps from the site of Rungapiko Pā, once fortified above the banks of the Mangaōtuku Stream in Ngāmotu, are new whare that now bear the same name.

In carrying the name Rungapiko, the papakāinga development also carries the history of Ngāti Te Whiti, hapū of Te Atiawa.

These whare support Ngāti Te Whiti’s aspiration to reassert their presence on their whenua. They’re also part of Te Atiawa’s wider vision for warm, healthy homes for whānau throughout the rohe.
