Well, that's one way to get your attention! 👀😂

With Labour Weekend here, it's time to slow down, relax, spend time with family and hopefully enjoy a little sunshine.

But here's a little reminder to take into the long weekend…

🌸 Take a break.
🌸 Make time for yourself.
🌸 And take a moment to check in with your health.

Ladies, between work, the kids and looking after everyone else, it's easy to put yourselves last. Let this be your reminder to know your normal, be aware of changes in your breasts and get anything unusual checked.

This long weekend, make time for yourself, too.

From our family to yours, have a safe and relaxing Labour Weekend!

People first. Always.

Behind every statistic is a person.

Today, around 10 women in New Zealand will hear the words, “You have breast cancer.”

According to Breast Cancer Foundation NZ, approximately 3,700 women are diagnosed each year, and around 650 women will lose their lives to the disease.

Behind every number is a mother, a daughter, a wife, a sister or a friend. Someone with people who love them, plans they are making, and moments they still want to experience.

That is why breast cancer awareness matters. 💗

✨ Know your normal.
✨ Pay attention to changes in your breasts.
✨ Get checked if something doesn't feel right.
✨ Don't put off seeking medical advice.

And while we cannot control every diagnosis, we can take steps to be informed and prepared, including understanding what support and protection we have in place if life takes an unexpected turn.

This October, let’s turn awareness into action. For ourselves, for our families, and for the people we love.

Because behind every policy is a person, a family, and a future worth protecting.

The reality is more complicated.

New Zealand offers a range of breast cancer treatments, but not every medicine available overseas is publicly funded here.

For some patients, access to a particular treatment may mean facing high out-of-pocket costs.

So, where can health insurance make a difference?

Depending on the policy, private health insurance may help cover eligible cancer treatments, certain non-funded medicines or approved treatment overseas.

But not every policy covers everything. Benefit limits, exclusions, pre-existing conditions and pre-approval requirements matter.

This is why understanding your cover before you need it is so important.

At Crafford Risk Advisory, we believe insurance is about more than a premium. It’s about understanding your options and protecting what matters most.

Knowledge is power. Know your options. Protect your future.

Happy Friday🩰

Ballet might not be my usual territory, but for my little girl, I'm happy to give it a go.

And honestly, these are the moments that matter most. The little dances, the giggles, the cuddles and the memories we hope to make for years to come.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we're reminded that looking after ourselves isn't selfish. It's important.

Because behind every health check is a person, a family, and a future full of moments still waiting to happen.

So, to all the mums, dads, daughters, sisters and friends: please make time for your health, encourage the people you love to do the same, and don't put off getting a change checked.

Know your normal. Get checked. Make time for you. 💗

Because there's still so much life to dance through.

Did you know?

According to Breast Cancer Foundation NZ, the reported 10-year survival rate was:

🎀 95% when breast cancer was detected by mammogram.

🎀 85% when a symptom was the first sign.

These statistics are a powerful reminder of why early detection matters.

A mammogram can help detect breast cancer before you notice any symptoms.

If you're eligible for breast screening, don't put it off. And remember, any unusual changes should be checked by your GP, even if you've recently had a mammogram.

Your health matters. Your family needs you. Make time for your check-up. 💗

✅FACT: Most women diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history of the disease.

According to Breast Cancer Foundation NZ, around 8 in 10 women diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history.

Breast cancer can affect anyone, even when there is no known family history.

That’s why knowing your normal, recognising changes and getting checked matters.

Don't wait for a family history to take your breast health seriously.

Knowledge is power. Know your normal. Get checked.

Happy Friday🌞

My mom’s breast cancer journey has reminded me how precious health, family, and time together truly are.

Taking care of yourself is also an act of love for the people who want you around for all the moments still to come.
Because every person has a story, a family, and a future worth protecting.

Did you know breast cancer doesn't always start with a lump?

A lump is one possible sign, but it isn't the only change worth paying attention to.

Changes can include:

• A change in the size or shape of your breast
• Changes to the skin
• A change in the ni**le
• Unusual ni**le discharge
• Thickening or an area that feels different
• Or a lump

The important thing isn't to panic over every change, it's to know what is normal for you and get anything new or unusual checked by your doctor.

And remember, checking yourself is only part of looking after your breast health. Make sure you know when you're due for your recommended screening too.

Happy Friday☀️

This month is a little more personal for me.

When we found out my mum had breast cancer, we were in New Zealand and she was in South Africa. It was during lockdown, which made an already difficult situation feel even harder because we couldn't simply get on a plane and be there with her.

I've always known my mum to be strong and determined. But watching her face a breast cancer diagnosis showed me just how strong she really is.

She was determined to beat it, partly because she wasn't ready to leave this world without meeting her second and third grandsons. ❤️

There was no history of breast cancer in our family.

It was a powerful reminder that breast cancer doesn't discriminate and that life can change in a matter of seconds.

Thankfully, my mum faced her diagnosis head-on and underwent a double mastectomy.

With her permission, I'm sharing a little of her story this October because I want to use this month to help bring awareness to breast cancer and also start conversations around the importance of understanding your protection.

Because sometimes life changes before we're ready for it.

🎀 This October, let's talk. Let's learn. And let's look after ourselves and the people we love.
