🚗 You wouldn't drive your car by only looking in the rearview mirror, would you?

Imagine trying to get to your destination without watching the road ahead or keeping an eye on your dashboard!

Running a business is much the same.

🔹 Your rearview mirror is your historical financial information. It tells you where you've been and how you've performed.

🔹 Your dashboard shows you how your business is travelling right now. Are your sales, expenses, profit margins and cashflow where they should be?

🔹 Your windscreen gives you a view of what's coming. Cashflow forecasts, budgets and business plans help you anticipate challenges, spot opportunities and prepare for the road ahead.

All three are important, but if you're only looking backwards, you could miss what's right in front of you!

At Forward Accounting, we help business owners understand their numbers, keep an eye on the important indicators and plan for what's ahead.

💚 Because it's not just about knowing where you've been. It's about knowing where you're going and having the confidence to get there.

Let's make sure your business is heading in the right direction!

🔮 Wouldn't it be nice to know what's coming before it happens?

One of the biggest challenges for small business owners is knowing whether there will be enough money available to cover everything that's coming up.

You might have a healthy bank balance today, but what about next month?

GST, tax payments, wages, loan repayments and unexpected expenses can quickly change the picture.

That's why I'm such a strong advocate for cashflow forecasting.

A cashflow forecast helps you look ahead, anticipate potential shortfalls and make decisions before problems arise.

At Forward Accounting, we help business owners take the guesswork out of managing their money with practical cashflow forecasts and ongoing financial support.

💚 Less uncertainty, better decisions and greater peace of mind.

Would knowing what's coming give you more confidence in your business?

When did you last take a proper look at your pricing?

If costs have gone up, your business has evolved or you're busier than ever but not seeing the results in your bottom line, it may be time for a review.

We look at six different pricing strategies—and why the right price needs to reflect not only your costs, but also your margins, your customers and the value you provide.

A good pricing strategy is the foundation of any successful business. Not only can effective pricing build your customer base, but it can also build brand awareness while increasing your revenue.

📈 Are rising costs quietly eating into your profits?

It's something many small business owners are experiencing. Insurance, wages, subscriptions, materials and everyday operating expenses keep increasing.

But have your prices kept pace?

When costs rise and your prices stay the same, your profit margins get squeezed. And over time, that can put real pressure on your cashflow.

A pricing review isn't necessarily about charging more. It's about understanding what it actually costs to deliver your products or services and making sure your business is earning enough to support you.

At Forward Accounting, we help you look beyond your sales figures to understand your costs, margins and profitability.

💚 Your business should be working for you, not just keeping you busy!

If you're unsure whether your current pricing is sustainable, let's have a chat.

💰 Getting paid sooner is great for cashflow – but at what cost?

When cashflow is tight, offering customers a discount to encourage faster payment can seem like a good idea.

But before you reduce your prices, consider what that discount is really costing your business.

Even a small discount can make a significant difference to your profit, particularly if your margins are already under pressure.

There are other ways to encourage customers to pay sooner without giving away your hard-earned profit.

At Forward Accounting, we help business owners understand their numbers, review their pricing and find practical ways to improve cashflow.

💬 Before offering a discount, make sure the numbers work in your favour.

Will your cashflow cope with the Christmas and summer slowdown? With customers taking longer to approve invoices and expenses still needing to be paid, December and January can put extra pressure on small businesses. Here are six practical ways to get paid faster and prepare your cashflow before the holiday season arrives.

The average NZ small business is paid 4.7 days late, beyond agreed payment terms. Here are 4 simple ways to speed up cash collection, reduce late payment and balance your cashflow.

Having money in the bank today doesn’t necessarily mean it’s all available to spend.

Some of it may already belong to the next GST payment, upcoming tax, supplier bills or other costs that haven’t fallen due yet. And that’s often where cashflow catches business owners out.

Good cashflow management is about looking ahead and knowing what your business needs to keep aside – rather than waiting for the bills to arrive and hoping there’s enough there to cover them.

There’s no magic percentage that works for every business. Your sales cycle, margins, expenses, GST and tax obligations all play a part.

At Forward Accounting, we can help you work out what your business needs, build a realistic cashflow forecast and put a plan in place so upcoming commitments don’t come as an unwelcome surprise.

A little planning can make a big difference to your peace of mind.

If cashflow always feels tighter than it should, let’s have a chat.
