Should you be contributing more than 3.5% to KiwiSaver?

Sometimes yes... sometimes no.

It can sometimes make sense to contribute more if:

👉 You're behind on your retirement savings goals and want to build your nest egg faster.

👉 You're looking to take advantage of the long-term benefits of compounding, giving your money more time to grow.

But contributing more isn't always the right move.

For some people, paying down high-interest debt, building an emergency fund, or investing toward other goals that can be more easily accessed may be a better use of their money right now.

The key isn't simply contributing more. It's making sure your money is working in the right places to support your overall financial plan.
