Casual: no promise of ongoing work, higher hourly rate through casual loading, no paid leave.⁠

Permanent: set days each week, paid annual and sick leave, lower hourly rate because the leave is funded separately.⁠

The deciding factor isn't hours worked, it's whether there's a firm expectation the role will continue. Get the classification wrong and backpay, super shortfalls and unpaid leave can catch up with you fast.⁠
